Took the fun bike out today (2005 Allez Sport) for 22.5 sunny miles. It's eleven years old but still probably the best bike I've ever owned.
Of course I wouldn't give up the 2011 Roubaix SL3 Expert. So I have two favorite bikes.

Weather Underground has an extreme heat alert for the southwest and parts of southern Washington/Oregon. Reno/Sparks will get some of that. Well, I've been asking for warmer weather... 23.7 Miles on the Roubaix, 72° at 9AM.

Wonderfully hot and humid for the 8AM LBS ride this morning. Didn't feel too good on the 5 mile ride to the shop nor did I feel wonderful as we rolled out and began the ride. Only nine ventured out of their air conditioned homes to sweat and have a little hurtin. Slowly they dropped off and at the end of the 39 miler there was 2. I put a few extra in and totaled out with 71 miles.

I rode to the breakfast ride: 8 miles. I rode to breakfast with the Cruiser group so the only Cruiser wouldn't have to ride alone: 12 miles. But with bonus miles on a full stomach I ended up riding my age (and a bit) with 55 miles.

No ride yesterday due to having to replace the brakes in the van. This morning, I did a very hot and humid 22 miles with my buddy Steve, and a hotter 14 mile solo ride. All that squatting I did, replacing the brakes, showed up this morning and legs weren't too happy. Tomorrow's forecast is for all day rain, so I guess I'll clean and service the bike real good, since I won't be riding.

I logged 156 miles last week, best week since July 2014. Added two routes together today for 29.3 on the Allez. Warm and overcast for 90% of the ride, it was perfect.

In Las Vegas the Strip isn't actually located within the city. To avoid tax, it's in a city known as Paradise - which is completely surrounded by Vegas.

Have not been riding as much of late, at least not consistently. I decided to go for a bit longer of a ride yesterday than the usual evening ride after work and rode up to the Big White ski resort. Not too much traffic this time of year which was nice. The ride was just a hair under 40 miles each way with 7300 ft of climbing. What surprised me when I did the research was that even coming down there was 1300 ft of uphill.

No ride again toady. Pushing two weeks now. However, the ceiling is painted and all the shoe molding is precut so once the floor is down it's a quick job to finish the trim work. Since the flooring is the only thing I'm not doing myself. I should be able to get some decent miles in next week if the weather fairs off some.

16 miles Sunday evening. Wish I'd started sooner, it was such an nice day I could have gone on if I'd had time.

I enjoy a ride now and again on my similar vintaged '81 Apollo Imperial. These classic steel bikes have a ride characteristic all their own, not worse, not better, just unique.

Had to hit my community's fitness room this am as tropical storm Colin's rain bands are getting progressively worse - wind gusting to 53 MPH!

Yep, I was excited that today is my first real day of retirement after 40 years teaching, looked forward for weeks to get up today to do 50-60 miles without any pressure to be anywhere. Tropical Storm Colin has dumped 6-8" of rain so far today, bleh! Not much wind on the west side of the storm but this rain is getting old. There is always tomorrow I guess . . .

Did part of today's miles with the Monday Group riders, the rest much faster on my own for 23.4 on the Roubaix. Too bad I can't pedal with my abs. Legs are in great shape.

Short intense hill ride, on the clock 13.75mi with 700ft climbing.

Today: Rode to work and back. Perfect weather - mid-60's this AM and 80's in the PM but clear and very dry.
Fri/Sat/Sun: Madison Tandem Weekend with our tandem club HOOTs (Hoosiers Out on Tandems). 120 miles total with a fair number of hills and many views across the Ohio into Kentucky.
Unfortunately, one of the teams was clipped by a car but both home a day later.

It would be nice to meet up and do some rides together. It's always nice riding with different people. Are the Wednesday night rides you do at Flatwoods with Rob and Denise from Kona SBR? I know they have a weekly ride but can't remember if it's on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. Suncoast is quite a drive for me, since I live on the other side of Temple Terrace but I do go there for special rides and, once in a while, to do the hilly part from Anderson Snow to US 98. That's about a 40 minute drive for me to go to Anderson Snow. To get to the SR 54 trail head isn't that long of a drive.

No ride again today, thanks to Tropical Storm Colin. We've had heavy rains here since Sunday evening and today looks like a repeat of yesterday. Hoping this thing blows over so I can get a ride in tomorrow.

He! In five days I will have been connected with that bike stand for 39 years. :love: We've done a lot of stuff together, including put a lot of miles on that vintage tandem.

That place is Acadia National Park, Mt. Desert Island, Maine. Very dramatic, an enchanting and wonderful place. The first pic is on the Park Loop Road somewhere west of the Fabbri picnic area, IIRC. The PLR has some very steep hills, like 15% or more. Most of it is one way, and fortunately the steepest bit (> 20%) is downhill where we regularly approach or exceed 40mph. The second pic is about 90% of the way up Cadillac Mt., the highest point on the island. That pic is looking north across Frenchman's Bay to the mainland. The elevation of that pic is probably about 1500ft above sea level, but the Atlantic is seemingly just a stone's throw behind me. The Atlantic, but from a much lower elevation on the PLR:

Thought it looked familiar, My wife an I were in Arcadia NP a couple years ago whilst driving through New England to NY. Beautiful part on the US!
