20 miles Wednesday morning to check out some drivetrain modifications. Beautiful sunny and cool morning in the 50s, just enough to be comfortable in a thin long sleeve Champion t-shirt (I don't have any proper long sleeve cycling jerseys... yet). Legs felt great after a two-day rest, rode one of my fastest times on a familiar roller coaster route and still had some in the tank. Didn't want to blow it all this morning because I might join a group ride this evening.

25 miles with a riding buddy and 15 solo miles. Very warm and humid. Not at all like it should be for Fall. Florida still thinks it summer.

23.1 miles (37.2k). Beautiful sunny day, warmer than yesterday by about 12°, but some pretty heavy winds.

Yesterday, we were the beneficiary of some tropical air blowing up our way and the temp was 77 and mostly sunny as I rode 70M, over-shooting my turn-around point by 5 miles (rode right past it). I can understand the error, though, because it was probably my last long ride of the season and I didn't want it to end! I still hope to do some more 30 and 40 milers, though.

19 bike commuting miles today. A bit drizzly at times both ways. Forecast had showed a chance of wetness all day but recent experiences with rainy riding (at the Midwest Tandem Rallly on Labor day and at the Hilly Hundred this past Sunday) showed me that I don't melt when wet.

Just came in from a 15 mile lunch ride. Very cool here, about 55 degrees with a headwind most of the way.
Busted out the cycling jacket for this one !! Leaves, pine needles and acorns making some parts of the ride like a slalom...

7.5 miles morning commute. Low 50's, headwind as well. I haven't done a lot of commuting in even cool weather, let alone cold. Wondering how much longer I'll be motivated to keep it up. Arms and fingers are the limiting factors, it seems.

Got another chance at a solo ride since none of my normal riding buddies were riding today. Since I've got nearly 300 miles in six consecutive days, I opted for a nice and slow, no shift ride. Really enjoyed the slow pace while saving my legs for Saturday's hilly ride around the Brooksville area. It's a 38 mile out and back with around 30 miles of rollers. The cross state ride will be using this route so I figure I may as well get in some practice since the cross state ride is two weeks away.

Yeah, sure, rub it in

18.3 miles (29.5k). 32° at 8AM. 4 layers, balaclava, and mittens, but plenty of sunshine. I rode the Tarmac (not since Aug) and was half-way thru the ride when I realized I had forgotten to put the patch kit in the underseat pack. The rear tire is just about shot, not a time to be without the kit. Beautiful machine but riding this bike makes me appreciate the Roubaix Pro all that much more.

Humidity was down and the breeze was up, all in all a great late afternoon ride. Logged 41 miles at a brisk pace. Still not my old self, but at least reason for hope.

I found out there were some issues with the new Roubaix; the LBS informed me of a problem with the cabling and brake levers (?) I've had such great success with the Giant and Domane....I hope I can say the same about the Spesh a year from now.

I did a quick 15 miles after work doing 3 laps of Prospect Park plus the ride to and from. I've been off 2 days this week, where I had been riding 13 straight days before. It gets addicting.

First attempt at my 100 miles began at 12:15AM this morning but did not go too well. Roads were empty except for a bunch of road kill, the temperature was an unexpectedly cool 74F, moon was bright, bike was in good mechanical condition however the human body wasn't. Only got 45 minutes worth of sleep since completing yesterday's 50 miles so energy level was fairly low. Things were somewhat fine until mile 21 when the doldrums hit. Managed to make it back home without crashing, 30 miles completed, showered and then crashed on the couch so as to not wake the boss lady.

Woke up after a few hours of sleep and prepared for another attempt. Success this time found me back home with 101 total miles for the day.

Off to bed now and hopefully 5 hours of sleep then last ride for the week. Would like to make it 400 miles for a 6 day total but pretty sure it will wind up a bit short. To be continued.

36 miles today to complete week 1 (341 miles) preparation for February's 2018 Bike Sebring 12/24 Hour RAAM 400 mile qualifier. I finally installed new shift cables on the Propel since the shredding of the rear cable during Six Gap. Thankfully I only had 8 miles of small climbing left out of the 103 miles/11,000' of climbing. 2 days with 100 miles with plans for 3-100 mile days next week.

OldTryGuy - did I understand you've got a 2018 Roubaix Expert on order? They're out, except mine is in warranty limbo. Won't have it in time for the Santa Fe Century, and may opt to ride the more familiar Domane at the Horrible Hundred.

Leaving work early today to at least get a meager 50 in before week's end..................

Another good C2C training ride for my buddy Frankie. He ended up with 60 miles and I ended up with 50 because I had somewhere to be early in the afternoon. Wasn't as hot as it has been but the wind was kicking butt for over half of the ride. Tomorrow I ride some hills, but I have to travel about an hour to get there.

A little unclear, as I haven't been in VA, where I'm making purchase. Apparently there were some issues with the brake levers and cabling. I'm heading up there next weekend....

Happy for you! Pics please and first ride post!!

So, I just went to the Specialized website and took a look at the Experts. Can't figure out what that black triangular piece is at the junction of the seat and down tube? Couldn't find what it is on their site.

First ride will be at least 100 miles, so except for lack of hills it will get a good ride. Most likely will begin the ride at 2AM. Guess I'll find out about brake issue.

23.7 miles (33.1k), back on the Roubaix Pro (best bike ever). Still in the 40s at 8:30AM but plenty of sunshine and lite wind. Good riding day.
