Well yesterday was a tough 35 miles for me. A bit out of shape with 25 mph winds. wore me down. I felt good today so did a 6 mi recovery ride. Hope to commute tomorrow - a little cooler but not much wind.

Watched the UCI track races today - some great racing but it made me feel anemic watching that prolonged intensity. LOL.

I bike commuted yesterday--good for the soul. I worked today, pulling a holiday shift. Rain this morning convinced me to drive. I'll ride to work tomorrow, then I'll hang it up for the week. The last of the four ChainRing gravel races is this Saturday, and I want my legs to be rested for that. This last one will have very thick gravel with large pebbles--hard to ride through, but I've been practicing. Ready as I'll ever be. So far I've been near the last finishers on two of the three, and DNFed one. I'm going to finish the last one no matter what.

Saddle time has been pretty sparse lately, mostly due to lack of motivation to ride solo.
After about a 2 week hiatus I rode a whopping 11 flat miles while at my daughter's in Texas last Tuesday.
Then, my riding buddy Sambo and I went for 22 on Saturday.
Not feeling too bad, all things considered, but my fanny objected just a tad......

Sunday, 4/16, late afternoon, after two HUGE Easter meals:
On the road:
24.6 miles.
14.7 ave. mph. Again, no land speed records, but .9 mph faster than my last road ride. Yes!

It finally warmed up (50°) for a 17.4 mile (28k) group ride. Wind was nasty but propelled me to 25mph on the return trip.

40, kind of sluggish miles this morning. Weather guy said 3-4 mph winds - yeah right!

I rode my 16 today, but it was not easy miles. Still did them.

21 miles on a bike to work day today. A bit cool in the AM, but warm enough for shorts, so how cold can that be?

8 miles to visit a graveyard to put flowers on a grave. Should have been only 4 miles (2 there, 2 back) except...the flowers accidently fell out of my panniers somewhere enroute and I had to backtrack to find them. They'd fallen out at the end of my driveway.

Did a usual 40 mile ride today. The first 25 miles with my buddy, Steve. It was his first ride after his hard crash two Saturdays ago. Then I took off to ride the last 15 miles solo but at mile 37 I lapped my wife and rode two miles in with her finishing the last mile solo.

I generally ride a Giant Propel but today I took my fun trike out, a 2006 Catrike Speed. 22.6 miles, 13.8 avg. 15-25 mph winds, but beautiful temps and sunshine.

40 miles yesterday, 6 on the commute and then a cruise of 34 in the evening into night. Perfect conditions, but for some reason the last 15 took more than the usual effort...

Rained last night and this morning so the streets were wet, the bike filthy after 20.2 miles (32.5k). I don't have a hose so I used squeeze water bottles to hose it off. Recovering from two big teeth extractions (Thu and Mon). I should have the two metal based plates by mid July (a year after I started this project).

Another usual 40 mile ride splitting it with Steve, for 25 miles, and Frank, for 15 miles. Really wishing this wind would finally go away but it looks as if that's not going to happen soon.

Summer weather in Missouri today. Took the 1995ish Pinarello out. 27 miles, 2000 ft of climbing. 40+ mph on a few descents.

23 miles on the challenging nearby hilly route. There are some short but steep segments with 10%-15% climbs. I've been tackling this route once a week this year and have finally gotten past a plateau in conditioning where I'd been stuck for months last year. But Looking back I'd avoided the hilly route in favor of longer rides of 30-60 miles on flatter, easier terrain. More time in the saddle and longer rides didn't translate to better conditioning.

Nasty, cold north wind cut today's ride short to 12.8 miles (20.6k). Max effort yielded 12mph (headwind).

Got the CRS back from the shop late yesterday afternoon. I had a longer stem put on it (90mm to 110mm) and did some saddle tweaking. I wanted another 60 mile, 4 hour minimum saddle time ride to see how the the changes affected the overall fit. I think it's damn near perfect. Lots of wind today so the slower ride was welcomed.

Just before leaving the parking lot for my ride, Amanda and her dad rode in to tell her mom that she had just surpassed the 80,000 mile mark. I don't think there's anything on this earth that could have wipe the grin off her face when she told her mom. She's absolutely amazing.

Pretty nice day but the air is still cold in the mornings. 20.6 miles (33.2k). I thought about going out again in the afternoon but it's Friday, more traffic than any other day of the week, and the wind picked up. Or maybe I'm just lazy.
