41 miles on a beautiful spring evening with a friend who was trying out a new-to-him TT/tri bike.
On the plus side, it was a good demonstration of how effective an aero tuck can be. On downhills he coasted ahead of me while I was pedaling. On flats he edged ahead pedaling steadily without much effort, while I was pedaling furiously.
On the minus side, I out-climbed him easily, and I'm not a strong climber.
And by the end of the ride he said the bike felt like an a$$hatchet. He's probably going to try an ISM or other noseless saddle with pressure relief cutout or split nose.

I did not ride today (had yardwork to finis). But yesterday (Saturday) I did this ride:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29842455
The ascent up Encinal was long with a few Category 2, 3 and 4 sections.
The descents were gnarly though.

50 hilly miles on the Eastern Brown County Dogwood Meander today on a club Grand Touring ride. Saw some dogwoods in bloom, among other things.

I got back out today for a quick 55 minute lunchtime ride.
I mostly stayed in the neighborhoods, because lunchtime traffic can be hazardous.
Don't get in the way of hungry motorists!

Did some shredding this morning in the hills despite of ugly cloudy, cold and damp conditions. But it made for a good surface.

On the most glorious day of spring so far, rode up Lincoln Gap, which includes “the steepest paved mile in the U.S.” ‘Twas steep but I plodded along and let the mountain come to me. Overall, rode 27 miles, 3,700’ circumnavigating the Mad River Valley. Perfect time of year as the ski areas were deserted and the summer visitors have yet to arrive.

42 miles on the gravel bike, with 4700’ of climbing. Perfect day to ride in the NC mountains. It was my first hilly gravel ride with the new hip. My positioning is just a little different than my other bikes and my hip noticed it a little. Nothing major but my hip did talk to me a little.

Yes, 48 degree F and after enjoying a short sleeve last couple weeks I wore my 20 year old Assos light jacket today and a cap under my helmet with toe warmers. Just right.

Wednesday two trips to the library. I had a book due for the early trip, and then later some book transfers came in so I went back for more. It's a 15 minute trip on my previous best, but I made it in 12, better than I can do in the car. I skated in there just before they closed, about one minute to spare. I'm feeling pretty good about that. I guess I was speeding. Maybe 30 feet net elevation loss which helped a lot. Added another ten miles JRA after.
Yesterday, Shingrix part 2. Today, my entire body feels crushed. Onset after 8 hours. I guess that's the immune response?

Managed a 12:28AM time of departure from house yesterday and had a magnificently quiet 91.5 mile night ride. One near miss with an Opossum T-boning me and a huge racoon running across in front. No Bobcat sightings like on Tuesday's 141 mile ride so I'm blaming myself for having too short of a ride.
Also pushed too hard at the end to make it back within my 6 hour time limit and messed up the right knee. Wanted to have a 100 miler but one extra-long comfort stop and too much lolly-gagging along at the start shot that idea.

That feeling when Euro pros show up to your local Saturday ride.

It also happened to be my son's debut on the "A" ride. He's right in front of me in the RSR bibs. We hung in the back and I was worried that he'd have trouble dealing with the surges with his junior gears, but actually having Jumbo Visma out there kept things pretty smooth. For the most part they just went to the front and motored. Lucas was spinning like a madman, but he held on the entire way. In fact, I don't think he ever was in difficulty. He got some nice attaboys from quite a few riders on the neutral ride back into town.
In the words of the late great Chris Farley: That was awesome.

Part 1 for me was a month and a half ago. Most significant vaccine side effects I have ever had but quite tolerable and gone within about 6 days. Looking forward - not - to second shot at 2-6 months interval.
Tandem ride today with tandem offshoot of local bike club. 33 miles followed by lunch.
