The Weak Link 06-13-10 05:52 PM

I dropped by the LBS on my way back during a very hot ride. Two other riders were there, a middle age dude who had taken a lovely Celeste steel Bianchi and mounted a set or aerobars, and a much younger woman who was a trophy wife, a SO, or less likely, his daughter. She gave me a look of longing as if to say "Kick this jerk's butt and let's pedal off together.

I might have done it, too, but my wife was already steamed at me for riding in the first place and I had to get right home.

While riding yesterday, I rode past a female rider walking her road bike along side the MetorPark roadway on a bike trail. I turned around and asked if she needed any help. She had flatted and had a tube, CO2 bottle and tire lever but didn't know how to use the equipment. I will say she was a very nice and trim looking lady about my age and that her husband rode home to get their car because he doesn't know how to change a flat. Within 5 minutes she was riding again, just after calling her husband on the cell phone to report the good fortune of meeting me.:thumb:

I don't think that's a tweet (not that I'm an expert). I guess this isn't either.

We're not sticklers here. Of course, my story was just a bit, shall I say, embellished.

I am relieved. You will never get to Poseur status using Fred water bottles. Did you ever see a pro handed a Polar bottle from the team car?

The Weak Link 06-14-10 09:26 AM

My team car is a red Ford F150. My DS is always yelling at me to get the hell off the roads and onto a bike path :innocent:

75° and blue skies...off from job 1 early so I'll get in 25-30 miles before going to job 2.

Does Deep Woods Off help with spider webs? I hit more little webs flying around today than I can ever remember.

No. That is one of the things I don't miss about MTBing.

Hermes 06-14-10 07:42 PM

I reconfigured the time trial bikes from yesterday's racing for upcoming training and got the track bikes ready for tomorrow's track session.

Yeah, and I was on my road bike.

Just took out a business loan so I could pay my Federal quarterly taxes so half of the country doesn't have to pay any taxes at all and can vote leaders in who perpetuate the "fairness".

BTW, no more vituperative left-wing PMs. They will be deleted unread, so save your energy.

On a more positive note maybe, EPIC RIDE ALERT: 45 miler over very hilly terrain in the AM, forecast is once again beastly hot interspersed with torrential rain. CRH (tm) will also be there, although at the last ride she had put off her hair coloring and the roots were pretty gray. Should be good times....

Why the spoiler dude? I've been visualizing the CRH as epic.

A'Jet, to manage expectations, this is the Weak Link providing information and he has not told us about her teeth yet.

You are right Hermes. Just yesterday I noticed dead patches of red grass in my lawn. The garden center said it's called "Red Thread", an airborne fungus that is carried by the wind to our area from Kentucky. Lots of different things down there.

This is BF so I think the PM and thread traffic will be very light.
