After tracking metrigear and their promised speed play power meter, bought up by Garmin last year and that added hopes that it would be real, then Brim Brothers and thier cleat based power meter. Will any of this ever happen or will be stuck with klunky power taps and over priced quarqs. Maybe it will happen when I can buy that diesel Subaru Forester in the US...

I heard there will be a pedal based powermeter out this Fall. It probably won't work with my Keos though. I know that Shimano is working on one too.

The PT wheel really isn't such a bad deal. It adds a little weight but, its a stable and relatively accurate system, and it can be put on different bikes with ease. SRM is the same for all practical purposes, though its not easy to transfer from one bike to another, and far more cost. Likewise with Quark. If someone is in the market for a Power Meter, I would say the PT wheel is a good economical option until a newer proven system is available. You might see a diesel Forester first.

I jumped onto training with power this January when I got a Power Tap. I wish that I took that direction 2 years ago.

I'd buy the diesel Subaru before I'd buy a PT. Just sayin'.

I'm sure hoping the Brim Brothers get that cleat based system working well. Power data for any bike you ride, with no swapping of components? Sign me up... I know one issue troubling the new product developers is that the Ant+ standard being used to get data to the computer is very low bandwidth, and they want the new products to provide more data than is currently being provided. That means either a higher bandwidth solution (which means more power consumption) or putting some processing power at the sensor to aggregate data before sending it to the computer.

I think that, if I have a computer in my shoe, I want a phone there as well.
