All hail Dilbert. this guy's strips are in more cubicles than you can shake a stick at. I like the sentiment in this one for the 50+ reason.

Don't know why but I find myself reading the funnies less and less as I get older. The last thing I "read" was Far Side. I prefer that kind of stuff over , say something like Cathy with tons of words that really aren't very funny.

I was a Bloom County fanatic for many years. I used to own all the books but sold them all a few years ago.

50+ comics

Just comic strips or real live comics too?

One that comes to mind about the current real-life travails of the Fifty-Plus crowd, as opposed to nostalgic comics of our generation, is Arlo and Janis. Of note for me, back in 2008 I was reading their creator's blog (of Jimmy Johnson) and came upon an off-handed mention of a website called Bikeforums.net.

Calvin caught my attention from this forum. This one just rings true on how we treat our misguided offspring.

Zippy is my role model. Are we having fun yet? Yow!
Not a chance that Zippy's strip would/will ever run in the Indianapolis Star but he frequents Funny Times, the monthly humor rag.

I'm more into Pat Oliphant who I think is the best editorial cartoonist alive, Kim Deitch, R Crumb, Marjane Satrapi, Ron Cobb, Art Spiegelman.

+ a kajillion on the comments about Calvin and Hobbes.

For me, the funny pages died when Bill Watterson retired.

I named a computer where all the upper management had to attach to to get production data "Dilbert". They had to go though a gateway computer called "Mordac".

Seemed appropriate.

Andy Capp, Calvin and Hobbes,Wizard of Id, B.C. and Li'l Abner were my favorite comic strips. When it comes to single pane comics, my vote goes to Herman.

My all time favorite has to do with needing some eunuch programmers. My son-in-law is a eunuch programmer but he spells it Unix. In the last panel the evil boss says "If the company nurse happens by, tell her I said 'never mind'."

I have followed and loved Doonesbury, The Far Side, Bloom County, Shoe & Dilbert among others. My current favorite is Non Sequitur.
