Here's what I like...
Here’s what I like:
I like coming to a forum that for the most part is very civil.
I like getting to know and appreciate some the folks who post on a regular basis. While it is electronically, I recognize the older I get the more people I know will pass away. Hence, I value friendships even when on the Internet.
I like being able, every now and again, to help a new rider figure something out, or being useful by providing information he or she may not yet have.
I like knowing of the rides (including photos) of others who get to ride places where I can’t and understand the challengesof an older body.
I like the perspective of people who live in different places and have different mannerisms and ways of expressing themselves.
I like communicating with people who have lived long enough to have a different perspective on life than our younger cyclists.
I like being able to ask questions and know that I’ll get some serious answers.
I like seeing the way other "older folks" approach their lives by including cycling in a variety of way.
I like that moderators have honored 50+ ia different than most other forums.
Feel free to add to this list.

Great list. I also like seeing the grace and courage with which people face the many demons that are likely to be in my future. I am inspired to live well each and every day by the many wonderful stories I read here.

NOS88, Sir, you post well and with warmth.
Does NOS stand for nitrous oxide? Does the 88 have anything to do with piano keys?
Knew a guy that had NOS on a hotrod car and an exwife played piano quite well.
I have a difficult time asking questions on forums because most often the answers are polar with little middle ground. The need to be right tends to dominate or so it seems but here in 50+ much less so.
So most of what I seek is found via search functions and I will read for days as I have no use for TV mind suck. I read while listening to meditation music or long play nature sounds, like wind in the trees or thunder storms.
Given my life History of very dangerous work in "the oil patch" and on heavy on-road as well as off-road equipment, to include several industrial injuries as well as motorcycle get-offs, it is amazing that I remain so active at near 66 w/o any serious medical issues. Thankful indeed!
This board offers a member the ability to delete post w/o a trace. I have done that to quite a few of my posts just to clean up the flow of the thread because in my excitement I can be a post junkie.
Offer me input on posting about a Ti framed road bike from bikes direct. You know what will happen. There are folks that are drawn to BD posts like sharks to blood.
I was just kidding about advice as I have just about given up on a light disc brk. road bike and will email BD today about pre-order price on a Cent. Team Ti.
Having searched if the Mavic Aksium 20 spoke wheel set can deal with a Clyde, I found 250# guys on this board running them. My near goal is 200#, so using 32 section tires on these rims should pose no issue for me... so why ask?
Searching the Tektro brakes on this bike I find good at RevBike but will fit KoolStop pads, better cables, flip the brakes and use the best wrap on the bars I can find.
The bottom brackets on many BD bikes needs a proper lubing as stated in our garage. So why ask? I'll just pay to have it done or up-graded as I lack the tooling.
I am grateful that those with real bicycle experience share it. My experience is not vast only quite new to most of what would matter concerning road bikes. Like my post in the Brooks thread. I shared my newbie first Brooks break-in. Meh is right. Someone comes along and via a passive aggressive post knocks it. So I deleted it.
About two decades ago I was active in the garage on a computer hardware board. I posted many well thought out answers with worth while links to solid learning sites. I was attacked far to often by button pushing youngsters.
So, one day I deleted about 100 posts in the garage. Then in the following weeks I get a bunch of PMs complaining of my action. To which I replied, "where were you when the button pushing was going on."
I'm not angry about the above as I learned to offer very little to anyone on-line about anything I am sure of and as a mechanic for 40 years I am sure of a few things in that area.
Need to get a three hour ride in early today as the filth of SoCal will be washed away with rain from 1:00pm today until 11:00am tomorrow. This means the bike trails atop the flood control rivers will be closed because children are drawn to the swift flow as it comes off our foothills.
So... If anything in this post offends anyone, let me know and I'll delete it w/o resentment.
EDIT: You might be on ignore so no PMs or posts will work unless quoted. :-D
Best Regards NOS88,
John

pursuance, Having been one of the anti-BD people until I bought one, some advise(of course feel free to take it, or leave it, or tell me where to stick it)
I found out when I got my bike that the BB was the only bearing that DIDN'T need to be rebuilding, all the rest did.
Good Luck and enjoy your new bike.

Yes, I enjoy this group, as well, even more because I have met at least two folks personally. Some things do improve with age. (Whenever my grandfather had to go to the DMV to renew his driving license, he would always tell the examiner, "I am like fine wine -- I improve with age.")

No fenders on the Trek Truck DS yet. So the underside was of some concern.
I ordered the Brooks from Wall along with a cheap cover but when I got the saddle someone had a Brooks cover attached to its underside. Thanks guy that returned it to Wall.
Just noticed the dual glasses in your Avatar. I did that often when repairing diesel injectors.

I like how an OP in 50+ gets a much broader perspective than the same OP in almost any other forum.

If you had your dual glasses on you would have seen that I'm actually wearing 3 pair of glasses. I was trying to read a map in the car at night and Mrs. John found it amusing enough to take a pic with her phone.
