I love this pic. Shiba Inu has to be one of the most often seen canine breeds in Japan. Fiercely territorial but very loyal. This one is especially charming.

Classic red-coated Shibas are so identifiable especially with their curly tails. Here is an older image of my in-law's Shiba aptly named 'Fuji'. One quirky thing about him was that he hated getting his feet wet and always stepped around puddles when we took him for walks.

Yesterday I finished a tour from Pittsburgh to Philly. Started out on the GAP. On the first day I took a short side trip to see Buffalo Bill’s house from “The Silence of the Lambs.” The basement scenes were filmed elsewhere.

This photo is is of the west portal of Ray’s Hill Tunnel on the 8.5 mile section of abandoned PA Turnpike that is now a bike trail. It was one of the filming locations in “The Road,” starring Viggo Mortensen.

In the second tunnel I met some walkers.

Hey Indyfabz, the road surface and lane markers look a lot fresher than I remember from the last time I rode the Pike to Bike. Did it get paved?!?! Or is my memory just not up to the task?

PS: You had some chilly nights!

Yeah. I rode it 7 years ago. The early miles west to east look to have been resurfaced. At one point they were using part of road for things like snow plow operator training. Farther east, the eastbound lanes are unrideable. Then, like magic, the westbound lanes become that way and you have to cross over, but even they are not like what you see in the photo.

It was 42 when I woke up at Cowans Gap S.P. A couple of days later it felt even colder just south of York. I didn’t hit the road until 9 that morning.

Took a couple of days ago. This mural along a rail trail is still being painted (looked like they were finishing it up when I rode past today), but I had stopped for a photo. (If you're thinking my seat's too low, it's a dropper post.)
