Dahon Folding Bike Boardwalk D7
Hi Everyone,
About me: 34 y/o male living in Irvine CA. I haven't biked seriously ever. I dont intend to get serious in biking either as I am afraid of getting hit by a car. Otherwise I do like riding a bike. So thats that
however, where I live they have recently opened a nice trail that doesnt require me to be on the road with cars which is important to me for safety reasons. As a result I have decided to buy a small bike to ride when I take my dog (english bulldog) on walks.
Past few days I have been reading this forum and trying to gather some knowledge before posting here. As a reault I have learned that Dahon is a quality bike as far as folding bikes goes and it is ideal for casual use.
I have come across a seller that is selling a green Dahon Folding Bike 7 speed in my neighborhood. The person claims it is in a like new condition. Assuming that it is, what would be an accaptable price for this bike? Also, I have read numerous threads however I am still unknowledgeable as far as being able to tell what needs replacing etc by looking at a picture (at least being able to estimate). I assume you guys will recommend me yo go to a LBS and get it checked out. Is it worth it as I dont know how much that should cost for a used cheap-ish bike? I have read the importance of tuning, how much would it cost me to tune a bike like this?
I would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks everyone.

Call a couple of Dahon authorized dealers in your area and ask them what they charge for a tune-up on a Dahon Boardwalk D7. Confirm whether the tune-up includes adjusting the latches and quick releases.

I have a good idea..Walk your dog! A bulldog can hardly move fast at the best of times..They were bred for hanging on to bulls by their mouth not for running beside a bike..
Walking your dog ..you will be in control of it..You won't be in control of your bike or your dog if you walk it beside your bike..

Thanks for the responses. Its good to know D7 is a good bike.
I have called couple bike shops and they charge $70-75 for a tune up. I dont know what goes into a tune up and how long it takes so I cant comment if thats reasonable or not.
Also, good idea regarding walking the dog, I should give it a try

I just purchased the bike so I am pretty excited. 😊 Test ride was fun.
If there is anyway I can help others looking to buy this bike let me know.
Also thank you hgr3inOK, tudorowen1 and marxmini for responding to this thread.
