Bike Friday Wheel question

I purchased a Bike Friday New World Tourist from the factory. When I put it together, I noticed that the front wheel had a lugged attachment which did not seem to serve any purpose. I called the factory and was told that this was to be used with a disk brake system. I find this odd, since I did not order my bike with disk brakes. Is it a standard feature now? Or was my order not processed properly at the factory?

If you are talking about the 6 bolt flange on the hub, that is indeed where a brake disc would mount. These days, pretty much any quality hub that you order will have that. Even if it does not get used.

You may want to atatch the spring for your right hand brake arm..

Not sure I would have been happy with that wheel. Especially since there is no disc brake option on the fork.

I'd keep it. I'd also be annoyed that there's no way to use it, because the front fork isn't disc brake compatible.

Make up your own Mind .. But, Bi Fri customer service are accommodating..

I have a Schmidt Dyno Hub with a 6 bolt Mount that I have not Fitted a disc On , (MY koga WTR)

My Pocket Llama came with A Schmidt Center lock disc Mount.. I use discs on it (V brake posts there Un Used)

If You want a different wheel why not get a Hub dynamo included ?

Are you having a case of buyers remorse and looking for things to nit pick on? You just got a brand new custom made bike and if it was me I would just be happy with it. I know I was very happy with my Pocket Rocket in the mid 1990s when I bought it. For that matter I still am. It really doesn't matter what anyone on this forum thinks. If you are unhappy you need to deal with Bike Friday not us. If you don't like the bike see if they can fix it so you are happy. If they can't make you happy ask them to take the bike back. Roger

I called Bike Friday and discovered that the disc brake hub was part of my order, and I suspect it may have been an error on the part of sales, who took my order over the phone, when we were discussing disc brakes. The bike was a present for my girlfriend who is recovering from hip surgery, as an incentive to get her biking again. She says she loves the bike and can live with things as they are. Thank you all for the feedback.
