Burke Folding Bikes
I wonder what's going on with these Burke bikes:
Burke Folding Bikes ? Seattle Cycles
I made an enquiry by email, got no answer, and I cannot see any information on the net about prices, where to buy, etc.
Does anybody have latest new about this brand?

Dr. Yap Where are you?
The Web site now says shipping Mid 2017.
It sounds like Dr. Yap, who designed those beautiful Titanium folding prototypes has not let the vision die.
Edit: On the other hand we see that the address listed is now occupied by a Wellness Center.

Yan from Downtube has kindly alerted us to this forum thread (thanks, Yan). Yes, we are still very much alive and kicking! The Burke 20 model is currently in production. The frames are being made in Chattanooga, TN, by Lynskey Performance. David Lynskey (see photo), who founded and built the first Litespeed bicycles, is personally taking charge of production. We have taken delivery of the first batch of frames and they look amazing. We are currently working with suppliers and dealers to get full bikes ready for sale, scheduled to be some time in the first or second quarter of 2017.
We have been receiving quite a lot of interest in the bikes, and we have exhibited them at Interbike 2015 and 2016, and also an airline legal electric model at the recent Consumer Electronic Show 2017. But we didn't want to announce any schedule of availability until we are sure the bikes are totally ready. We apologize for not blowing our trumpet too much for the moment.

Thanks.
Mike Yap

All parties interested in buying a Burke should contact Mike directly in order to create a group buy before he goes through a retail channel.
Thanks,
Yan

Umm....ya. $10k is kinda too rich for my blood. I have my eye out for a non-electric anyways, but after seeing this, I don't have my hopes up that I'd be able to afford the Burke 20 non-electric.

$10K!?!? for an efolder. whew, that's the price on an pretty good used car! i'm not sure what market they are hitting in this price range but the ones that can plunk that kind of dosh down without blinking are probably the types that would buy the latest carbon road bike with full electronic shifting and not looking for a folder for day to day travelling to work. There's probably a few of them out there but i'm not sure how big is that market.

That absurdly priced ebike uses the same low-tech, low-power system as my NYCE Wheels e-kitted Brompton. Which is fine at the price I paid - I love it - but anybody spending more than $2000 on an ebike expects power and pedal assist, not just a simple thumb throttle.
So for 10 Grand you get a bike that folds and goes like my Brompton. Hey, here's an idea...

Lightinthebox sells fenders for $10 shipped.
No worries, thinking logically we are the folding bikes market and it doesn't seem there are many rich people among us, SC will have to have competitive prices to stay in business.

Believe that $10k figure is the cost of building that prototype as a 1 piece by Lynskey. Including all the jigs and machinery tuning required to build a one-off, its probably a reasonable ballpark of how much that piece costs if the reporter was to carry it off there and then I guess ??
I'm quite sure as a frameset, it will drop below the $3k mark once it starts producing in the 20pc/batch range. And lower still once it goes into the 50pc/batch range and as the jigs and fixture costs get further amortized.
That's just how production costs goes.
