Bikes: Dahon Speed Uno (wrecked) Boardwalk S1 (broken)

Dahon Vitesse P18 frame fit Speed Uno?

clear disclosure: I'm a total novice when it comes to bikes/folding bikes, so bear with me.

I was recently in a accident with my Dahon Speed Uno, I made it out pretty ok, but the hinge on my bike was bent out of alignment.

I cant afford a whole new bike so I've been looking at replacement frames and came across a Dahon vitesse p18 frame for a good price. The only problem is I have NO clue if the rest of my bikes components with fit this frame.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

It will probably not work since the rear dropouts are different.

Thanks man, any suggestions on a compatible frame or if Dahon will sell the frame on its own?

I would call Thor and ask him, he may also have something laying around in his shop? https://www.thorusa.com/about.htm

There is a Boardwalk in Bakersfield for $100 and it has the same dropout. https://bakersfield.craigslist.org/bik/2511362316.html

thanks so much for finding that for me. I had actually replaced my Boardwalk with the Speed Uno after the hinge on that one crapped out. I rode it daily for a year and gave me a lot of little problems.

if the P18 frame is a good deal, a way to get around the lack of horizontal dropouts is to use a SS chain tensioner (this can be installed in place of the rear derailleur where you will already have a hanger post).

anyways, just a suggestion. my Jack is work in process to a SS, and i have been looking at getting a chain tensioner for the conversion.

Thanks man, that just might do the trick. The frame is in Singapore so I gotta find out how much this badboy is gonna cost to ship.

The Shimano Alfine is a nice derailluer type chain tensioner. https://transitionrack.com/pd-shimano...ioner.cfm#main

My thought on the Boardwalk was to swap all off your parts over to it.

thats exactly what I want to, but after that Boardwalk frame gave out on me mid ride, I'd hate to spend 10 cents let alone 100 bucks on it. I'm looking for a frame the same quality as the Uno or better

Can you buy just the Uno frame from Dahon? If not get a new Uno and sell all the parts that are still good on the other Uno on Craigslist.

I'm trying to find out about the new frame now, one dealer I called said no and Thor is looking into it for me. I might end up just buying a new one, really trying to avoid it, but its not looking good. That Vitesse frame is gonna be 340 shipped which is 40 bucks cheaper than just buying a new Speed Uno.

Yeah, I was wondering if it might be better to part out the Uno and get a whole new bike.

I guess it probably would be a good way to go, but I don't even know what kind of interest there is on ebay for a such a niche bike

The wheels will fit other bikes like the Boardwalk, the cranks, handlebar post.

UNO is it the curve frame? If it is it is like the mu series frame. Is yours run by rubber chain or the ordinary ones? To me if you get the vitesse frame, is gonna work since the front fork and stem is transferable. Only to becarful is what type of chain you using. UNO should be a single gear bike, just change it with metal chain and it should be alright. I might be wrong lol
