Apparently one of the advantages of nickel plating is that it shows up any cracks that form in the component during its serviceable life. So when these plated Bromptons start to crack, the cracks should be easily spotted by the user

It's really pretty. Here's a stupid question though. Do bromptons really crack? I've a bike friday that's 12 years old and the frame is in perfect condition. Do bromptons have a shorter life span for some reason? Or was that really just a joke?

+1 on presto being best bike Dahon produced.

I like the TT pro and the jetstream as bikes but they dont fold well. The presto folds a tad bigger than the curve but was a much better bike and easier to upgrade. One upgrade project bike I would have liked to have done was I was tinkering more a few years ago.

All folding bikes can crack. Especially ones with out double top tubes. Very old Bromptons can rust badly on rear stays causing fatique or break near seat post. Older birdies also break here. Dahons tend to break near hinge. Mezzo are tough frames and I have only head of one failure which owner admits he had seat post way too high. Mezzo tend to have more issues with proprietary components rather than the frame.

Agreed, that sure is pretty. When I worked in a plating shop back in the mid 80s we did a lot of custom car and motorcycle bits and nickel was the step before chrome plating. A lot of the stuff looked so much nicer (warmer) in nickel than after going to the final chrome step.

Thanks ThorUSA. I'd be interested in it if I could build it my (less expensive) way.

That move saves the consumer at least $500. How awesome is that?!

I'd like to test ride that Nyfti. It seems to have a relatively long wheelbase, which I like, yet the fold looks fairly small. I also can appreciate the thought put into the frame rod supporting the main hinge, the addition of roller wheels to allow the bike to be rolled around while folded and the addition of a rear rack... although the linkage/strut used to tame the serpentine chain while folded looks "interesting".

In short it looks like an honest attempt to design a folding bike for the utilitarian/commuting cyclist.

Should've nickeled the whole thing. Also wish they would just offer the black bits as options.

Anybody rode this 22" one? I have (Eurobike 2014) and it impressed me quite a bit. Is there a dealer in or near Hungary?
