Bikes: Old 3 spd brompton

Brompton headaches

Hi i have a 97 3 speed brompton... Its was owned by a non bike user who has hardly ridden it but managed to break stuff then left it for years to rot, I want to change to a 15t sprocket, they are not too big on a 3spd brompton?

Im in the process of adding a double chainring just waiting on new bb... Can anyone explain simply how to shift the rear hub sprocket to the right a bit for chainline?

This bike comes with no chain tensioner and the toggle chain snapped off inside it... Best way to get it out?

Best new brake cable solution? Suggestions?

The locknut was snapped in half on rear wheel removal... Are they all one size?

Rear rack needed, the sites say if u get one with no rack installed before u need to buy a whole kit for £100... Can i get rack alone for £50 and get some second hand mudguards or is there some special parts id be missing?

Thanks!!!

Do you need a rear rack. Its small and mpst brompton users just use the front bag. You can run without the rear rack you just mount wheels on mudguards, a standard brompton option.

Chain line sounds like you need the right length.bb axle.

Re: 15t cogs , yes, 'they are not too big on a 3 spd Brompton' that is what I use .. older Mk2 bike wouldnt take a 16t.

If you seek out one from the Mk3 series , then Sachs was making their 3by2 6 speed and the 2 cogs are 3/32 thick .. so 5678 speed derailleur chains

for shifting between it and a 13t, It is a skip tooth, 3 are shorter , but Ive been using it just fine as A single cog.

its using the same 3 spline interface as all of the prior SA hubs have and still do.
The current BSR hub is still using the 3 spline.

You can get all small replacement parts for Bromptons and for the S-A 3 speeds ..

talking in
£ you shouldn't have problems finding parts .. if you put in the effort. ask the dealers & write the company.
