Constantly logged(or not) out.

Have been away for awhile and my recent experience has reminded me why I became frustrated with using these forums.

The site constantly informs me that I need to log in to post a reply, but when I check the top of the page it shows that I'm already logged in. This is usually within about 5 or 10 minutes of logging on, and continues as long as I'm on the site. In order to actually get a post with any substance uploaded I need to write the post in a text editor and quickly copy/paste it in the field. Another work around is to frequently ping the site by hitting the preview button while typing.

Is there still no way to resolve this?

When you login, you need to check the "Remember Me?" box under the password box.

Don't have this with the other forums I frequent. Other than the site, only the browser would have an effect such as this, and it has no control over how a site times out. I'm on a completely different system than when i first started posting here, but the experience is the same.

Most forums have some sort of control over the user's time use, but this one has been the most aggressive by far. And it is the only one that has me logged on and off at the same time. A great example of Schrodinger's cat. If there as a control I can set, would appreciate learning about it.

Thanks, most of the forums I frequent don't require that once logged on.

Like others, I have no problems and operate from 5 or so computers + phone. Can you try to clear the cookies for the site in your browser? Maybe there is one corrupted there.

Bikes: 2-many...2 road bikes, 2 fixed wheels, 3 tandems, 2 recumbents, 2 cyclecross, 3 mtb, 4 folders

I have exactly the same problems. I don't allow cookies to be set which may be part of the cause.

Just tried a longish post again with the same result. Had checked the 'Remember Me' box at time of log on. I use a password generator and noticed that after launching it to fill the log in fields, the remember me box would uncheck itself as the site was logging on.

I use Cocktail to perform routine maintenance, which clears cache and cookies. Again, this is the only site I frequent that behaves like this.

Agreed.
I use a number of sites that have something like the "Remember Me" option on login, but this is the only one where it makes a noticeable difference.

Had to re-log on again...

I thought that the Remember Me thing was mostly to log you back on automatically when revisiting the site.
