Bicycle Insurance and Locks
Anyone on here have either purchased insurance for your bicycle or managed to have been reimbursed by Kryptonite for a bike theft? I'm planning on using my bike to commute. Bike cost me $700, which I still owe the full amount to my credit card(no interests currently). I looked up several quotes and the cheapest one which covers theft costs $8.33 a month. Honestly this sounds pretty good and since it's insurance I'm willing to bet it's a lot better than any bike lock warranty, which I hear is extremely difficult to get reimbursed for. Any thoughts on the matter?

I'd suggest doing it through renters or homeowners insurance plans. I have recovered for theft from both. Be aware you may have to add bicycles as a rider on a base policy, so be clear that is a primary concern. It wont be the cheapest, as it covers all your belongings and housing, but that's nice coverage to have anyway; I've seen it needed.
Markel Insurance offers bicycle insurance for USA Cycling members, but probably offers it to non-members as well, so that's probably worth looking into if you haven't already.
