Need to learn more about bikes

Im in a bit of a rush right now so I'm justing going to copy my introduction. If you have any questions ill be back in a bit. Thanks everyone!

Hey everyone, I'm Kaspar. I haven't biked since I was really little and riding around the neighborhood so it's been a couple of years since I have even ridden a bike. I've thought about getting into mountain biking recently but never have had the money for it. Now I found a job at a bike shop and I'm going to sell bikes. Problem is I don't know too much about them. I'm learning a lot during training but would like to really know what I'm talking about. It seems like the things that really matter are type of bike, size, and price. Once you know those things you can show a bike. What's the best way to learn more? What are things you like bike shop workers to know or do? Help me be a great worker!

I've borrowed a friend's Trek and have been riding the short ride to work and I love it. Hope I can get into it more soon.

Thanks a lot guys!
