The pictured bike isn't a "Trek 1274". For that matter, it may not even be a Trek.
The "1274" decals don't denote a model, but rather the number of days Lance Armstrong was out of racing while he fought cancer. When Lance Armstrong rode in the 2009 Tour Down Under, his first race back after beating cancer, it had been 1274 days since his previous race and his bike wore a black & gold Livestrong/1274 scheme in commemoration.
The bike pictured in the ad obviously isn't Lance's bike, nor is it a replica or a special edition that might've been made around the same time. Those would've been newer, carbon fiber, and with higher-end components. The bike in the ad is an older steel-framed bike that someone has dressed up with Trek/Livestrong/1274 decals.
Since the bike's been rebadged and we don't know what it really is, you'd have to take inventory of the bike and its components to come up with an estimate of what it's really worth. We have no idea what the frame is, how decent it is, or what tubing it's made from. But it has a 1" threaded headset and a forged quill stem, which if original, means the bike is likely from the mid-1990s or earlier. The bike has Shimano STI shifters, but I can't tell what model. The pic isn't clear enough to make out much more.

The Livestrong series was a series of bikes which price included a $50USD donation to Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Foundation. Hence the 'Livestrong' decals on these. Available from 2011 until the 2013 model year.

Here's the BikePedia page for this bike model:

There was a Livestrong Madone 6.9 Pro available in 2009, according to one source, but that's just one comment- there are no other references to that one.

Add: There was also a Livestrong 9th District model available: here's the Trek archived page for that:

BikePedia has a list of several sizes of this last model: And their values on the used bike market...

There was a recall of Trek bike models in 2012:
"Trek Bicycle is recalling about 27,000 FX and District bicycles because the bolt securing the seat saddle clamp to the seat post can break, creating the risk of a crash. "
Recall: Trek 2012 bicycles?seat can disconnect from post
So that narrows the bike down to being either a Trek FX or a 9th District model. :-)
Lastly, here's one for sale in Alberta right now:

The 1274 number apparently just refers to the number of days Armstrong was 'retired' back when. It doesn't appear on any Livestrong models I found photos for, just on the Madone 6.9 Pro the company built for him.
"The number 1274 represents the number of days Armstrong was retired before making his comeback at the Cancer Council Classic in Adelaide, whilst 27.5 represents the millions of people who have died from the disease in the time since the seven-time Tour de France champion stepped off the podium in Paris after sealing his last Tour crown."

The graphics on the down tube look all wrong, not anything like the simple Trek logo seen elsewhere.

That, and the likelihood this one doesn't have Bontrager tires adds up to alarm bells ringing in my head. Trek owns Bontrager.
This could be a counterfeit.
Add:
There are some Trek Livestrong bikes shown on this list: note that the Trek logos on these are the proper one:

Thanks for the replies everyone. I took a look at the bike personally and the frame looks a bit off. The decals look like they haven't been painted on rather made of stickers. Though the shifters, gears and brakes are all shimano ultegra. wheels have been replaced too. the frame does have a serial number on it. 156510

That number, 156,510 -if it's a legit Trek- would show this is a 1984 bike frame.
See:
Vintage Trek Bicycle Frame Serial Numbers, bike
The big issue could be... Is it worth riding? :-) Some decent spray paint might come in handy...

If you got a Trek 420 on the cheap, good job! The 420 was Trek's entry-level touring bike, but Trek's "entry level" bikes back then were still built awfully well.
Along with confirmation via the serial number, you can verify the bike's identity to some extent by checking frame details. I don't know specifically about the 1984 model year, but I've seen 420's that have the Trek name pantographed (engraved) in the seat stay caps at the seat cluster. That would at least confirm it's a Trek. Here are the catalog specs for a 420 frame, some of which you should be able to confirm:
Main Tubes: Tange Mangalloy Double Butted
Fork & Stays: Tange High Tensile
Fork Crown: Tange CCL Semi-Sloping
Bottom Bracket: Nikko with Trek cable guides
Lugs: Nikko Short Point Seamless
Dropouts: Suntour GT Forged
Braze-ons: Top Tube Cable Guides, Water Bottle Mounts, Rear Rack Mounts, Chain Hanger
