Let's turn this around. Cyclists are pretty regularly put up with idiots in cars yelling at them, throwing things at them, passing close by them, running them off the road, and evening running over them. So next time a cyclist passes a little too closely and scratches your car, realize there is a reason.
It's all a matter of perspective.

You will find jerks everywhere and in every activity. Cyclists are humans first.
Ahh... this brings to mind a Futurama quote.

I've reread my original post to find the part where i said retaliation against bicyclist was justified. i couldn't find it. Reading comprehension counts! Retaliation is never justified, just understandable. It's guilt by association.

Since the scratch on my car seems to be no big deal to to you, if you want to send me a check to cover the damage, I'll take it. Money's money, it's all good.

My wife and I had this happen to us once. My wife was about 20' behind meriding about 3 or 4 mph since we were on the side walk. A courier decided to use us as a slalom course. Well I saw him just lightly graze my wife (putting me in danger is one thing, my wife and/or daughter is another). As he came around me on the right, my elbow some how hit his front brake lever
(no one else was on the sidewalk at the time). I am sure he was cleaning the pebbles out of his arm for some time. He even appologized for riding so close.

What I find funny about this thread is the guy wants to vent and some of you take it like he was talking about you.
Does shaving your legs make you that thin skinned?

Just thought I'd post about a jerk and a nice guy I had contact with on a ride years ago.
I was riding Mulholland Highway over the mountian and riding on the flat section at the top I got buzzed by an idiot on a motorcycle. The kind of guy with bright colored racing leathers. Several miles later I've taken the downhill back towards home and am a couple of miles short of The Rock Store, a bar motorcyclists often stop at and I hear a Hog behind me. About 200 years short of me the rider throttles down and coasts past me. Way cool a very nice guy with his kid on the back. At the Rock Store I joined him for a beer.
Oh did I mention his leathers? Hells Angel. I have no idea why but Hells Angels have always been nice to me.
