I like pineapple or carrot juice. I try to juice some ginger too. Really helps to keep the muscles loose and inflammation down.

In my 20's I would drink a beer, or multiple beers. When I outgrew alcohol in my 30's I went through the hip latte/cappuccino /expensive "postworkout" energy BS phase. Now I drink cold water or Powerade. Matter of fact, I drink nothing else but that and milk.

in the late afternoon of my bike tour of NL, after a day of riding, picking up a cool beer was very nice..

Gatorade or chocolate milk.

I like to wait at least a couple of hours and get a meal in before starting the beers

morning routine. get up, get ready for a bike ride, make coffee, get on bike, ride bike, 1.5 hours later (actually more like 1:20:00 later), return home, pour a cup of coffee, go upstairs, take cycling clothes off hop back in bed, drink coffee.

I finish my 20 mile rides usually around 5:45 am.

Arriving at work - a large ice water and an unsweetened shaken ice tea (when I care that I'm on a diet) or a large ice water and a frappuccino (when I don't care that I'm on a diet).

Arriving home - ice water and lots of it.

A glass of ice water with a wedge of fresh lemon or lime: simple, cold, quenches thirst, and minimum calories. Sometimes a flavored green tea works too.
