Now this is worrying

Start at 4.10

I came across this video the other day. I'm not the biggest Queen fan but I like them and it was an entertaining video anyway. What struck me was that with the song "Bicycle race" two of those appearantly couldn't relate to someone wanting to ride a bike at all. I'll quote:

"I hear him sing 'bicycle' (puzzled look)"
"You want to ride your bicycle? (sarcastic intonation)"
"This one is really weird, like bicycle, where did that come from?....... You don't like Star Wars?"

I was flabbergasted. If you look at the rest of the video it's clear these are quite intelligent kids who share pretty insightful comments about the quality of Queen's music, so they must have had a decent upbringing so far. Can anybody explain what went wrong for these kids? I can understand they don't picture themselves commuting by bike or become or practice cycling as a sport, but haven't they ever experienced the joy of cycling or have they never rode a bike at all? What went wrong?

I think you are reading way too much into this. It strikes me that they just think it's funny that a band did a song about wanting to ride bicycles. I sense no negative attitude towards bicycles.

I'd hate to see what these kids would say about Pink Floyd's 1968 song "Bike."

Maybe I am. I've known this song for almost all my life and have heard it way too often, so I might have overlooked that it's an original subject to sing about. So good point, but I didn't mean that those girls were expressing their view on cycling. They sounded to me like a bicyle isn't part of their lives at all, at that age, that was what got my attention.
