My 26 inch wheeled mtb tourer conversion has a 22/32/43 front paired with a 12/36 9s rear. Any lower and it would be better/faster to walk & push.

I'd rather ride slower than a walk (if I could). Easier on my ego.

Not likely to be well accepted in some circles, but actually I cannot think of a better time to have a motor on a bike.

The Mountain Tamer can get one down to some mighty low gearing.

Mountain Tamer Triple adapter - LOWER GEARS for bikes of all kinds

Some people have successfully installed them as quads.

It might allow you to also keep your current cassette.
