Um. The rollers will work better for cycling and the treadmill will work better for running.

Is this a trick question?

Bikes: ...a few.

Don't buy used treadmill. Too many moving parts. Too difficult to fix. Too heavy to move. The correct answer is the rollers. This is a cycling forum; not a running forum.

Hey, just think about it, i agine yourself on treadmill that put you on 15-20mph.

How could you.... possibly stop treadmill? Of course there might be emergengy stop switch somewhere but how you reach it on the bike? Wat? Sprint to speed up and press it? You probably crash beforehand.

Or you just let it slide you off treadmill?

Its just sounds silly.

You can get PerformanceBike Travel Trac folding rollers for $100USD shipped without much trouble. You like buying $500 Kreitlers?

I bought Performance rollers for about $100. They are the fold up kind and work really well. BTW, I bought them about 30 yrs. ago and they are still good.

Full disclosure: I used these rollers every Off-season night for the first 10 yrs. Since them I've used them sporadically but they are working just as they always have.

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

I've never tried riding a bike on a treadmill. I suspect it could be … exciting.

Give it a go, and make sure you catch it on video!

A great set of rollers should cost no more than $350.

Bike treadmills are available. Two are below. There are others. Bring money.

Personally, I own the same $160 [current price] set of rollers from Performance that a few others have posted on and I use them whenever the weather doesn't permit me to ride outdoors. I honestly couldn't justify spending more than $200 on rollers. I didn't see the benefit of the others without going to something like the E-motion rollers which start somewhere around $700-800.

That being said, if you have the mechanical savvy to be able to modify a treadmill to be long enough and wide enough to work with a bike, will support fast enough speed (20+ mph?, if not higher) and have an emergency kill.... that'd be the way to go.

Sportcrafter Overdrive Pro rollers have pretty realistic progressive resistance built internally into the drum. These easily allow interval workouts such as 2x20's.
Price is $399, right in the middle of the Performance rollers and more expensive Inside Ride e-motion rollers you mentioned. For me it was the sweet spot.

I did see a used Inside Ride set on Craigslist for $500 and sorry I did not jump on it.

I bought a set of e-motion rollers on craigslist for $350 a few years ago that looked like they had never been used. One of my best cycling purchases ever. I also have a set of the hundred dollar nashbar rollers that you can't do intervals on but are perfectly fine for winter base miles. If budget were a concern that's still the way I would go. I have a treadmill too but I have never tried to ride my bike on it. Maybe I'll give it a try this weekend and get some video.
