Looking For Mileage Tracking Software
I am looking for a BASIC cycling program - online, or standalone. Not an app or a spreadsheet template. It's a surprisingly tough search.
I was using CycleStats, and it lost a bunch of data. Not sure how.
Most of the stuff I have seen is wildly complicated and/or tracks unnecessary information (mood, weather, average heart rate, etc.)
All I need: Date, miles, average speed, calories burned, inside/outside, mileage totals.
Thanks

what is the difference between a program and an app? If you want it to track automatically, it needs to have GPS, so a phone app would work best.
any phone app can do that, I use Samsung Health (free with Samsung phones).
Heart rate is only tracked if you use a heart rate monitor, so that is easy to avoid.

Just buy a Garmin 520 and ignore all the things you're not interested in. This will mate with the Garmin Connect app on your phone which will then upload everything online to your Garmin account. You then have a bike computer with a lot of upside potential in case you decide some day in the future that you'd like to have those additional features.

For a second there I thought you meant actual BASIC, the language I learned programming on in school on our Apple //e computers. I was thinking, "Who still uses BASIC any more?"
I know you said you're not looking for a spreadsheet template, but sounds like either that or a database is all you really need.

Ride With GPS as well as Garmin Connect allow manual entries, nothing generated as a GPS device, so you could go that route as well.

Not sure I understand the question but any app like Strava, RideWithGPS, MapMyRide, will keep all those stats and as mentioned, you can log onto their website to keep up with everything. Or transfer to your PC if you're keeping it on some type of spreadsheet.
I'm not sure how you track the info mentioned, mileage, average speed, calories burned, etc. without running some type of GPS app. I suppose a bike computer would do that but then it would be a simple matter to transfer the data to keep it in one spot.

I will check Strava. No, it's not semantics. An app is usually short for "mobile app." A program runs on a bigger device.

I still rock a flip phone, so the app stuff is out.

Not sure how you log miles without GPS. You just read from the odometer (simple bike computer) and manually enter? You can use Excel, or Word... but that seems more complicated than using a free app.

Fewer people now are using BikeJournal.com because it hasn't kept up with phone apps and gps; but it's still there and it would work fine for what you want.

No, not necessarily. The free version of Strava records just what you asked. But that's irrelevant to the discussion since you don't use a smartphone. So I'm still confused... what DO you use to record your mileage, average speed, calories burned, etc? Simple odometer is the only thing I know of you could use. Seems a simple operation to record that to some spread sheet.

A simple computer I guess is more accurate description, which works as an odometer, and speedometer, ave speed etc. Has a little magnet doo-hicky that hooks to the spokes. LOTS of people buy them today.

So you still aren't telling us your most important requirement - how will you be logging this data and what will be your method for entering it?
You can have this all logged automatically into Strava/RideWithGPS/Garmin Connect/MapMyRide/another dozen of similar services. Or you can do it manually, assuming you have some sort of a computer.
Why not just go for the easy, automatic way, make everything private, and ignore the fields you don't want to see?

Cyclestats - cycling ride stats, charting, logging service - Home
or
CycliStats - Software for Cyclists - Cycling Software
Not sure which one OP is referring to. But both look kind of like 1990s tech, the horse and buggy of today's world of somewhat-autonomous cars (don't get me started on that). That's why it's a surprisingly tough search, there's no demand and therefore no support for it - would likely have to either use outdated tools or do it manually using a spreadsheet.
