Wolftooth B-rad system

has anyone put the wolf tooth b rad system on their road bike? I am interested in getting for some more storage on my road bike but not much out there for road bike pics? Just curious if anyone has done this and if there are any clearance issues?

thanks!

Bikes: Foundry Chilkoot Ti W/Ultegra Di2, Salsa Timberjack Ti, Cinelli Mash Work RandoCross Fun Time Machine, 1x9 XT Parts Hybrid, Co-Motion Cascadia, Specialized Langster, Phil Wood Apple VeloXS Frame (w/DA 7400), R+M Supercharger2 Rohloff, Habanero Ti 26

I have used it for a couple years on my road bike and certainly it is not the greatest in terms of overlap but it an excellent system. The reason I initially did it was so I could run a frame bag to carry extra stuff on a ride I do almost every year (but this one thanks to COVID-19) and just ended up keeping it because I was too lazy to actually remove it after that ride. Now I will sometimes commute on that bike and use the frame bag to overstuff with clothes. If I had a photo I would gladly share it but alas I am terrible at getting photos

It is a well designed system and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Had it on my old bike so I could get the bag off my seat. Haven't set it up on the new bike yet, but I'll get around to it. Can also use it to put two bottle cages in, if you have room. I had to use a two hole adapter to move the seat tube bottle up to get enough clearance, that will probably vary depending on the frame.

I put one on my Synapse for the summer to hold a third water bottle. Other than temporarily messing with muscle memory, it works great. On the clearance side, pay attention to the length of your secondary bolts. I started with a set too long and now have two nice round imperfections in the clearcoat.

And before anyone starts raggin on me for carrying 3 bottles, I've got a handle bar cage for a 4th - just for those extra hot boondock mountain days and hydration packs just add to the heat.

Why anyone would rip on you for this is beyond me. A 64mi hilly ride I am going to do in a couple weeks has 0 gas stations, parks, etc along the route so I need to either bring what I will drink or stash water on the route ahead of time.
My gravel bike has 3 mounts and I with probably also use a large under saddle bag to hold a couple 16.9oz waters as well as food. Thatll be close to 100oz of water and will be great to have if its on the warmer side of things.

Thanks all!

Rides4Beer I see you don't use the zip tie it says to use or does the 2 version not need a zip? Is that hideous zip tie really needed under the meal bar?

I am really hating the idea of HAVING to use the zip tie. I know its probably a silly hang up but hate them little things!

Bikes: Many, and the list changes frequently

I used one on my wife's bike when I added a mid-drive e-conversion. It allowed me to better position the battery within the frame. I was impressed by how stable it is even with the weight of the battery. Wolftooth has certainly done their engineering homework.

Nope, I didn't want to use the zip tie either, didn't want it messing up the paint. I used the foam strip under the mount and had no issues with movement. I'm using a Lenzyne Micro bag that I already had. Had to use a dremel to open up the hole on one side of the bracket so the buckle would fit through, but that was an easy fix since it's just aluminum.

B-RAD3 on the downtube, B-RAD2 on the seattube. I have comically long arms, and the bottles are still positioned so low in the stock configuration that I have to contort myself to reach them. Seattube bottle is raised about an inch, downtube maybe inch and a half.
Bag is a Castelli Undersaddle Mini with the OEM strap removed. Fairly water-tight, and holds everything I need.

Super nice ride....

I appreciate the pics with the b-rad installed.

I just printed the template off their website and going to tinker to see if I can get the size 2 to work for me. I hate the idea of the zip tie on the 3.

Good stuff!

Bikes: are fun to ride

How have I NOT heard of this? I do a lot of bikepacking and want to transfer my H20 load on my bike instead of a hydration bladder on my back.

As far as B-Rad, I've used several configurations on my bikes to gain more H2O capacity and tool/tubes on the frame. Who cares what it looks like on a road bike? Worried your lycra race buds will make fun of you for adding grams to your bike? You do you.

LMAO!! If you could see me you would not think I am ever worried about how I look. Or so my wife says.

In all seriousness the only thing that I don't like is the zip tie required around the down tube for the 3 and 4 sized bars. I hate the idea of it rubbing on my paint. And I really hate zips!

Other than that its a go. Not super cheap but worth it for the ease!

Ah, see-- I don';t worry about paint at all anymore. I've got 32k miles between two bikes (both 2017s) and the bike I just built a few weeks ago already has a few hundred. There's no way to avoid nicks 'n scratches 'n dings on a bike that gets ridden 2-3 times a week. The Cervelo looks great from 5 or 6 feet away (at least to me,) but under close inspection, it kinda looks like a bike with 12 thousand miles on it. Which is what it is.

Added a third cage with Zefal Gizmo mounts and two more with the B-Rad 4 with the double bottle adapter for over a gallon of water on the frame.
