Wow, that’s a surprising factoid … but still, one could say the actual humans running this website are getting paid from our dues partly at least.

What a huge issue to pay a modest fee to advertise something for sale. I guess nobody wants to pay for anything any more.

It's more about whether you trust the seller than where you found him. You can arrange a phone call to get a feel.

You can ask to handle payment through PayPal, which has some ways to cover you as a buyer.

...or you can arrange to meet locally, so the forum is only really helping you to meet someone who's selling what you want.

...or you can ask them to start an eBay sale, and you would be protected through their buyer protection scheme.

...or not! (in which case, why are you even posting in this thread? )
