Cycling destination question

Do you visit your local tourist information place to pick up the local annual vacation guide and/or any other brochures etc. about tourist attractions in your area?

I have been doing that for years! I love doing long rides, and to me, it makes the ride so much more interesting if I cycle out to something, rather than just cycling the same route all the time or just riding with no destination in mind. A fascinating thing about cycling out to various tourist attractions or points of interest is that many people who live in the cities where I have lived are not even aware that these places exist! By cycling around (rather than driving) and paying attention, I know more about some areas of the world than the people who have lived in the neighborhood all their lives do.

I just picked up some new brochures about a week ago ... and I'm looking forward to cycling out to these places as soon as the weather improves!!

BTW - these places usually have a lot of great travel and tourist information:

Not parking in the lot or hiking to the sights.

I just got into cycling this year and one of my goals is to visit touristy areas where I live, preferrably before the summer crowds arrive. At least once a week I try to go out and ride somewhere new, like yesterday I found a bike path that connects to another path that ends at a mall and merges with street traffic. More importantly though, this route also leads to the local Performance bike shop. Why drive or take the bus when I can enjoy a nice 25 mile ride (round trip).

I dont pick up the brochures, but im definatly a destination cyclist only.

I can only continue to cycle and never be bothered with exercising if i have a destination. Without a destination it becomes exercise, and then i start finding ways to skip it.

With a destination, even if its going 50 miles for coffee & pie, then returning home, my simple male brain is unable to comprehend that its still exercise, so i pedal along happily.

I commute to work and back every day, regardless of bad weather simply because I have a destination.

In the summer ,Vancouver has some sort of ethnic festival somewhere pretty much every weekend. Last year I hit every festival I could find, sampled all the great ethnic foods and entertainment, and pedaled home happy as can be.

I'll keep an eye out now for brochures of stuff within a days ride of me now though

When I biked to Chatham from London, I visited several historical sites that I probably would never have seen taking the Greyhound bus. Plus, it's really quite flat terrain, so it's better than just pedaling endlessley.
