Ditto. 20 miles a day, 49 days, and maybe my marital obligations would vanish.

You can count me in, but I highly doubt I'll reach 1000 miles. My plan only has me reaching about 650. But never know, I might get out and do extra miles from time to time, like I did two weeks ago. My username on Bike Pro Log is pbwalker. Too bad I can't count my miles since Jan 1st... I'd be half way to 1000 .

PBW

EDIT: I forgot to add that as of Feb. 10th, my base miles before the start of this challenge are 478.7 miles.

I do not know if I will enter the challange but I will try and reach 1000 miles any ways. All I have to do is 572 runs down my local dh trail. So I need to fit in 11 runs every day. jk

I only wish I had the time to do that many runs every day. There are couple of other runs I could use but they are no where near as fun.

Does the trainer count? No way i'm gonna do that if it doesn't. I clocked rougly 21-22miles today. But that is just if you count the trainer.

Crap... if trainer counts i'll be having to average 20.5 miles a day. I can't excercise 2 days a week due to work... so 28.7miles a day. Comes to 1004.5miles. I won't bike "28.7" miles a day. Lets say I round it off it to 29 or 30. 1015 to 1050 if my plan works out. The 49 day diet plan. Lets see if its successful. Feel free to correct me if my math was off, btw. The date is February 10. 3 days till my birthday!

It looks like they fixed your totals. How did you get them to do that? And, dude, tell us about that 243 mile ride!!!

Peace,
Lou

Thanks for the link, although I'll never get to 1K (Or even half that) I'm starting to use BikeProLog now: (ET_SoCal)

Two days in and I'm freakin 80 miles behind. My goal is 40 miles a day. Today isn't over yet, so I might be able to squeeze in 50 or so. Have you ever noticed that the more planning you do to ride, the less riding happens?? Some of my best weeks have been weeks where I didn't plan a darn thing. Maybe I'll just scratch my goal of 40 a day and wing 1000 in six weeks.

fubar5... I noticed your sig and followed up on the Tour de Cure link and wanted to Thank You. I am a type 2 diabetic. Their having a one day 36mi ride later this year in my area also. So, I am attempting to put together a team and sponsors. Worst case scenario, I got my wife committed and we'll ride as a two some...that's the good The bad...I have to buy her a new road bike... not sure this is working out for me financially..

Heavy overnight rain gave way to clear Blue skies and wall to wall sunshine early this morning and what a great day it turned out, the kind you want to bottle then pour out every time you cycle, with temp`s at 52/54 Fah`t I reckon. Heck this is the frozen N.E. of England not S`n.California. (we will suffer for these last two days)
And no work today.
I was tempted to bring the road bike out of hibernation, glad I did`nt as there was lots of standing water on the roads, with road salt swirling in it no doubt, not good for your expensive roadster, so I made do with my trusty old hybrid.
Headed of up North again, 25 miles as far as the bottom of the "Winters Gibbet" a climb of 2000 ft ups and downs( mostly ups) I`ll leave that till my legs muscle up later in the year.
Returned to Scots gap for a pot of tea and scones at the cafe there.
Fortified me for the return via a different route.
Whooooo 58 mile ride on return, thats the 100 ml up in first 2 days.
It can`t last!!!!

My bikeprolog handle is morsen, and my Feb 10 zero point is 1571k/975mi. This will be a fun challenge! For the sake of my riding, I hope the Seattle rain holds off, but for the sake of our summer water supply, bring it on. Major props to all you bada55es riding in the snow! Cheers to all of us, in anticipation!

Also, if any of you have some sway with the bikeprolog operators, you should join me in lobbying to have an altitude-gained field added to each ride entry. I'm sure it's a very significant factor for quite a few of us.

I cycled to my work yesterday. 15 km - 9 miles, but the surface became more slippery. I cycled home in the evening very slowly and still nearly crashed couple of times on the sheer ice.

I have the feeling that I need the special winter tires for cycling on the ice.

As for the "mid-west" issue, I would not completely agree. Actually I see that I like cycling in winter very much. There is no dirt and no dust. No sweat. The only problem is the slippery surface. I will just try to find good winter tires.

I heard they make them in Finland.

Today I commuted by walking those 15 km.

I guess I'm in, too! I just set up an account on Bike Prolog (SteveE, again) and with a starting base of 778 miles. This might even force me to start commuting! I'll keep my fingers crossed the rains fall mid-week.

i have 118 miles... but i noticed something.. if you add other activities(thought it would motivate me more) the time lowers your average..? strange.
weather here is too cold -18 and icy so i am stuck indoors this morning.... only did 18.56 miles.. boring. hope i can get to 1000 miles, not sure if i can as i am training for an indoor rowing race in march.. oh well.
i NEED a mtn bike..lol

Max, curious...what country are you located? and what type of bike are you riding under those conditions (snow and ice).

For some reason, I don't see my pure breed racing machines tires worth a poop in the winter. I also think my bloods thinned over the years living in California, making cool outs under 50* more of a challenge then fun.

Bikes: Mercier Corvus (commuter), Fila Taos (MTB), Trek 660(Got frame for free and put my LeMans Centurian components on it)

My zero out number is 487, I log in as tbombadil. I have 68 miles racked up so far! Think I can do this if I can just commute everyday (something I have not yet been able to pull off but perhaps this will motivate me!). I have also found myself having more of a desire to run my shorter errands with the bike as well to get every little bit of mileage I can!

Oh yeah, my bikeprolog handle is quattro. My year hasn't been going to well as far as riding is concerned. It's getting better though.

I am registering and building a team. There's two of us so far. I expect to be donating also. I've sent out 30 emails to friends requesting sponsor donations... I expect to gather $1000 or or more. Both my wife and I are looking forward to the ride. I also have another possible rider and hope to have a team soon.

My goal is 1000 dollars also. I may be able to get a team together, but that isn't my main goal.
