do you get compliments while riding?
Ive gotten 4 compliments this week from riding around my home place (6 miles one way) all from women in a flirtatious way. It made me feel weird since Im married. Does the sight of a guy on a bike look good to women? I wear faded torn jeans with a tanktop on all rides, with regular tennis shoes. I just always figured a guy on a bike looked like nothing special.

I had a couple people want to know where I got my Nova BULL tailstrobe from. In daytime!
Yeah, it's THAT powerful. One guy in a parking lot also complimented my overall visibility setup and asked where a guy gets the retroreflective tape that's on my frame & wheels.
Last winter, a couple of kids also said "Hi, mister alien!" as I rode by in 4 inches of snow with my self-illuminating vest & belt on, plus dual superblinkies, a helmet blinkie and a self-illuminating wristband. I *think* it could be construed as a compliment....
The other night a kid also hollered "NICE HEADLIGHT!" (meaning the HID one) while I was on my way to the trailhead.
Or were you referring to all the ladies complimenting my butt?
Oh wait, that never happens

I garner the occasional odd looks.

I think the poster is a guy. It says outdoors guy under his name. But yess, im constantly bothered by women gawking and trying to grab my butt!!! Actually, I dont really know if anyone is looking, as im too busy paying attention to my ride. I wave and say hello, but thats about it. ofcourse, I dont have a spiffy matching outfit, or cool ripped jeans. I just look like an everday dork riding his bike and sweating.
Its usually the wierd looks I get when I go to the gym after a ride as I have to drive there. Since im not wearing a helmet when I enter the gym, people usually look at me funny as if im the guy trying to strutt around in my tight workout cloths and show off. I usually throw a t-shirt on before I go in now.
Maybe if I had a jersey instead of underarmor, people would realize I just came from riding. But who cares!!! if people are worried about how I dress, they arent worth my time. Sorry about rambling during your topic, I dont know what happens some times.

well, there's the occasional "nice rack!" meant as a joke when people see the Dr. Pepper crate strapped on. (especially with the splash of pink paint on the back from the time I used it to hold the fork of the bike I was painting for my niece) Older guys offer to buy my handle bars and the horn scares kids a block away. My Schwinn Town and Country trike really turns heads too...probably in a better way

There are a couple REALLY cute blondes that live a few blocks from me that are always whistling and yelling at me!
And people are always asking me about my bike and riding... especially outside the grocery store when I'm loading up a half cartload of groceries!

Yeah, I get a few compliments, mainly from women about my legs. Used to bother me at first,......made me feel kinda weird for some chick to tell me I had sexy legs. I mean, thats supposed to be my line. The first thing I did was look around to see if any guys were watching. Then it happened again, from another chick, and just kept on going after that. I mean, I confess I ride hard in the sun, and I'm dark complected, and go sockless in my Diadoras, but I'm built like 'Big Bird' and getting old, and all I need is yellow feathers and a beek to complete the picture.
The real clincher came when my wife's girlfriends were at the house when I came in from a ride, telling me how great I'd look in high heels. "WHAT"??........Now thats a first, I thought, so to salvage my dignity all I could say was "Yeah, yeah, yeah,...whatever", I said, letting them have their fun. It was real hard to live that one down though. "High heels"???.......so I made myself scarce, letting the hens talk in the hen house. Of course they were all apologetic about it and all, thinking they offended me (I was'nt), but I still felt kinda weird y'know.

I had a couple of chick drive by once and yell,"YOU GOT A NICE AZZ!". I just laughed at it. Many times, I've been riding up hills of Carbon Caynon and even guys will drive by yelling and giving me the thumbs up! I guess they get a thrill out of watching somebody climb hills. One time my wife and i were riding our tandem up a big hill. As we approached a sidestreet a lady in a van waited for us to pass at our very slow pace. I washoipng she would just go but as we got closer, she rolled her window down and shouted,"you guys are doing great!". I felt my wife pick up the pace, so I guess it helps.
Last summer I had some fine azz nice beautiful sexychick in a car pull up and drive along the sie of me andlook me up and down in front of my friends. Oh, she was way too sexy for me! I was praying she wouldn't stop and talk cause I'm pretty much a goof when it comes to talking to chicks. That and the wife would cut my B@lls off!

Got my first "Go Lance!" chant from a group of high school kids yesterday.

Do I get compliments while riding?
Hell no.
Why, just the other day I was ridin' along, mindin' my own business when all of a sudden, I get passed by three 10 year olds on skateboards.
One of 'em yells, "hey, mister!"
"Yeah, kid?" says I.
"You look like a dork!" he says.
I get no respect.

I get that all the time. Of course, my name is Lance, and I have a licence plate on the back of my bike that says so.

I've gotten my share of "Go Lance"s, "I love you"s, "work it, sexy a**"s and the various hoots and hollers.
...still the one moment that I laughed so hard I almost fell over, some drunk passenger in a cavalier zipped by and he popped out of the window, shaking his fist in the air while shouting "Git R Done!" at the top of his lungs....I don't know why, but I had to pull both hands off the bars, start shaking them in the air, and holler back "Gimme a beer!"....dude slowed down and tossed me a beer
...I never expected that

That's hilarious. Living in NC, I'm surprised that hasn't happened to me.
Last year when I first started riding again (after surgery), I got a lot of "Lance" comments, especially from my boss. After a few months, everyone accepted it. Now, I mostly hear: "I wish I could ride to work"; "You ride to work? Man..that's great". The best compliment was from a customer who called to ask me a question about his bicycle. He told me he started riding 15 miles every morning because every time he came to the dealership, he noticed my bike parked next to the service desk and he was inspired to start riding again.
Strangely enough, I overhead my boss talking to a friend of his this past week. Seems he just bought a bike and started riding it. He hasn't mentioned it to me, I'm thinking he is a little embarrassed since he was the main culprit for the "Lance" zingers.

Do you wear spandex? Ladies like tight cloths. They consider it sexy
.
When I ride my cruiser bike I usually have shorts on, and my friends mom gives me compliments

About 30 miles in- I was riding as firmly as I could to catch the rest of my group- Can't go fast with 20 abreast on the road- but I was able to push through and find a few holes to get through- Suddenly I heard 2 girls behind me saying that in the last 5 miles- that was the best looking set of legs and the best butt. Definitely worth tagging onto. Then the odd comments came through about look at the calves- and can't wait for him to get out of the saddle again. Eventually I let them pull alongside and they were two gorgeous looking girls on a couple of Trek Madones and they were in Lycra that did fit in the right places. Were they disappointed. I am 59- losing a few teeth- nearly bald and a gut on me that should not be there. I thanked them for the compliments and suggested it was my turn to enjoy the view. I do not know who was more embarassed or who laughed loudest.
