BMW maniac, you should ride up the kaimai's from Tauranga. Then turn round and come down.
The second 'step' (sorry can't remember the name of any features - had two bridges at the bottom about 600 metres apart) of the twenty km climb touches 1 in 10 in places and is as smooth as a billiard table - and did I mention loooooooong. I clocked 114kmph - had the cateye memory to prove it.

45mph, long, gravel, bouncy, head wind road, my bud just saw an orange flash go past him lol. Im dying to go faster though.
For me, id rather die happy, than have lived a long boring life, but thats probably why i will own a motorcycle when im older (Suzuki Hayabusa 1300R) i Suppose im young and stupid, and i take pointless risks like that, but for me thats what life is all about, life sucks anyway for me.
You're only going to hurt yourself so if you want to go for it, by all means. It's just not worth the risk for me. I sure don't understand anyone who does it while, at the same time, endorses safe riding techniques.

54.0 mph (86.4 kph), yesterday morning coming down the Brockway grade (signed as 9%) on Hwy 267, coming from Kings Beach to Truckee, CA. I was dripping buckets going up the hill in sun and then practically froze coming down in the shade. But what a rush!

On a straight road with a tailwind, 25.3 mph for 2:12 minutes on my current "comfort" bike, a Raleigh SC-30. Of course average speed goes down to 12 mph and I rode only 16 miles that day since I was exhausted hahaha!!!
I don't know if the computer is accurate measuring speeds, but I know that is giving me the right distances since I'm comparing it against my car's odometer.
A question to those that hit 40 mph or higher, How much time can you keep those speeds?

ANYBODY that can hit 40 mph on a bike, can generally NOT hold it for very long. A few seconds or minutes at the most. I would guess that anyone that can do better than that are currently busy riding thier bikes around France. Even those guys don't hit 40 (except on the downhill sections) except for the last few meters of a sprint finish.

47 miles per hour right here...I think I could go faster, but I haven't ridden on that hill in a while.
About all you guys afraid of crashing...sew your sack back on! confidence in your machine in crucial to the sport!
As for flat ground top speed, it is 38, on route 1 near rehobeth beach in delaware. I held it for about a minute, and I couldn't take it anymore.
