Computer - H E L P !!!!
Appreciate all opinions..... here or email. thanks.
Today, I saw the lastest POLAR computer, model 720i with kit selling for $589. This model has all of the features I'm interested in.
Does anyone own, use or familiar with this model?
I have two days left to purchased at this price. Thereafter, the price returns back to $650.00+.
Thanks...

Honestly, do you really NEED it? Chances are you already know your cadence and speed. I personally don't really care to know what elevation i am at, or how cold it is. I usually can figure out when to put on the arm warmers by the speed of my teeth chattering together. The one really cool thing about it is the power output. That may be worth the price to you, but not to me. The S720i is a neat package, but i just dont see the need for the majority of users.

I have a Polar 710 and it is great. The lap function is the best feature. Start the clock at the beginning of the ride. At the base of a hill you can start a "lap" time at the top of the hill, stop the "lap" time. When you get home it will give all the info for the entire ride as well as the hill climb. So you can see what speed, Ave, max, HR Ave, HR max etc for the hill or the whole ride. I find this a great way to log my progress over certain hills even though my ride may differ before or after the climb. I couldn't afford the power or cadence function. The altimeter is very good for hills riding, it is accurate also. It is an excellent HRM.

If you can afford the Polar S720, by all means buy it!! I bought the S710 and I'm so jealous of the S720, it looks so much cooler. Anyway, I think the functions are still the same.
As I've said, buy it if you can afford it and if you want the functions. It is a really cool high-tech device that can definitely help you. The ability to upload exercise information makes it definitely useful. It allows you to keep a log and monitor improvements, I've noticed lots of improvement. It'll also save you a lot if you decide to upgrade later, you can buy the additional power output sensor or cadence sensor that are sold separately. It is a wise choice to buy it, but if you can't afford it, you might want to save up to buy it or otherwise just buy a lower end model.

I was able to find a S710 shipped for $210 on the net. This same company (I'll have to look for the reciept for the name) had the S720 for around $270 if I remember correctly. $589 sounds rather high. Do a Yahoo search and I am sure you will find a number of sites that sell HM at extremely reasonable rates.
The only thing I have noticed is that you have to read, read, and re-read the instructions to truly understand the functionality of S710. This thing is amazing at all the different options. I found most of it overkill but I am taking it in small chunks trying to learn all the various functions.

I have a 710 and it changed the way I ride for ther better. If you have a personal computer and the cash this is the way everyone will train in a few years.
I have been using it since the first of the year. It stores all of your exercises. I can look back from the previous months and actually see my progress (on these cool graphs) in endurance, length of rides, time in HR zones and many other useful and not so useful stuff.
I always wanted to keep a diary but it is alot of work. With the Polar, you just push a button, the info goes to your computer and does all the work for you.
I do not really consider it to be a "bike computer" but a training tool. The bike components are just bonus.
I do not have the power attachment, that is some really serious cash but have only heard good stuff about it.
I do have the cadence attachment. If you never have had a cadence monitor this will really clue you in. It gives you an average cadence for every ride plus the ability to see your actual cadence during any portion of the ride. I have raised my cadence from the high 80's to the middle 90's. I never would have done that without this device.
Highly recommended for someone who wants to seriously train!!!
