Shoe Strings
Being a fairly new rider, I wonder if someone could tell me what to do with my shoe strings so they don't get caught in my chain ring? I almost lost a shoe because my shoe string was attacked by the chain ring. I'm not ready to buy cycling specific shoes yet so I ride in running shoes. Thanks for the help........... David Von Stein

If you tie using the "bunny ears" or "loop, swoop, and pull" method, then simply repeat the process, forming a double knot.
This will shorten the laces up so you don't break your face lest one of those laces forms a relationship with a tooth.
Eh?

Shoe strings are the work of Bealzebub. Get some Merrell mocs and kiss them strings goodbye.

Tie the laces with the knot off center so the knot is closer to the outside edge of the shoe. If the laces are still long enough to cause trouble, tuck them in the shoe toward the outside.

When I wear non-cycling shoes, I tie with an overhand knot, wrap the excess around my ankle and then when the ends are around front again tie in a square knot. If I'm wearing long pants this will also take care of keeping my pants out of the chain ring.
