Breakfast
I seen a TV advert staring the track Cyclist, Chris Hoy.
Hes preparing and riding his bike. As well as eating breakfast cereal.
He seems to tighten his chainring bolts with an electric drill
I just use an allan key to tighten them.
Though one time I had built up a BMX and the chainring fell off it, when my freind was riding it to the shops. All the chainring bolts were in a line along the road.
So will I copy Chris and use a drill to tighten them.
I dont like his breakfast cereal though

You could use a torque wrench and do it up to the suggested settings. I've never had chainring bolts come undone doing them up by hand.

Oh yeah - I'm throwing out my hex-sockets and torque-wrench. I'm sold on that electric-drill!
(don't you believe that!)

I dont have a torque wrench, but my electric drill has torque setting from 1 to 8. Maybe I should calibrate these sttings.

What does Chuck Norris use to tighten them?
But I've been thinking a lot about breakfast lately and that was what got me to this thread. My theory is that we need something like dog food, but for us. Just a big bag that will keep indefinitely in the tool shed, and anytime you want, you can just scoop out a bowl, add beer and it would be ready to eat.
I'm going to be working on the recipe in the kitchen....

If it looks like he's using a drill, it's almost certainly an electric driver with an adjustable torque setting. He'd twist the fasteners right off with a regular drill.

Remember it's an advert. If he was a true Scotsman he'd be eating porridge.

I don't fool with tightening chain ring bolts. I have had to do it in the past when one gets loose and there is a chirp. But tightening the bolts on a weekly or even monthly basis should be ample. Doing it daily seems like over kill.
The whole thing sounds like a competitive athelete's ritual to me.

Don't want your chainring bolts to come loose?... forget the drill or electric drive, torque them up in the correct sequence by hand with a torque wrench and use Locktite.

I started eating bran cereal with berries regularly for breakfast a year or so ago. I feel it helped me jump start weight loss. The fiber helps keep me full throughout the morning. I was 228 about 18 months ago, now I'm 168.

Don't take bicycle maintenance advice from advertising copy writers.
