Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.
Whichever one "sings" to you, buy that one. Enjoy it for as long as the feeling lasts.
If neither one creates much excitement in your mind, keep looking.

Get the Schwinn. To put together a full suspension bike at that price means they use parts which for such functionality will soon turn into a PITA for you to deal with. Full suspension is nice for downhill but not as good all round as a front-suspension.

very different bikes. depends on how/where you'll be riding. if you're jumping off cliffs then get the one with the suspension.

Hi MTBike1, welcome to forums. I agree with the hardtail. most people do not really need rear suspension IMHO, esp beginners.
I would suggest 3 things:
if you can add 100 to your budget check out your local bikeshop for their base models.
see if there is a BF bike reseller near you. he may have something used but better for about the same price
if you but the schwinn or pacific see if you can get it in the box and have your LBS build it. it will cost a bit extra but is often worth it. while alot of 'department store' bikes may be built by professionals those guys/girls often get paid by the piece so sometimes don't always lube everything.
good luck happy biking

I think that might be about $1000 over budget. I don't think he is jumping either

At that price, even a front-only suspension will have a pretty cr@ppy shock. Does anybody make a totally unsuspended bike at that price point?
