U-Lock Help!

Hey,

I just bought a U-Lock with a cable at a bike shop in NYC. On the way home, the plastic bag the U-Lock was in opened itself and the set of keys with the serial number of the lock fell of and I didn't see it until 5 min later. I tried to go back and see if it was somewhere on the sidewalk, but nothing.
What should I do? Did I just loose my money? The lock was pretty expensive for me amd I'm really pissed. This seems like the highest point of a really, really ****ty day. Now I have neither a way to lock my bike nor any money to buy a subway card. Is there a way to get a spare key with the store receipt? Can some hardware store make another key from the lock for less than the lock's price?

Thanks a lot guys!

Go back to the bike shop. Tell them that the cheap bag that they put your expensive lock in, broke as boarded the subway...You can't find it, and you want them to replace.

Also, respectfully make this additional request in this manner__"This time...please give me a quality bag, Sir!"

Unless by some miracle someone wrote down the serial number of the keys, then no, you're not going to be able to get a replacement set from the manufacturer, and there's no way anyone will be able to make you another set of keys for it.

A locksmith to make a key, from none, , will likely cost more than the lock you bought.
