Need help with finding a new seatpost

Hi! I'm new to bicycling, and I think I need a new seatpost. I'm riding an old Cannondale Criterium (fixed her up and everything), and that it is mad uncomfortable. I got a new seat and bike shorts, which help a lot, but I intend to take it for rides that are upwards of 100+ miles. After doing some googling, I found that a new seatpost might help ease my discomfort over bumpier roads. Do you guys have any particular suggestions?

Larger tires with a lower psi will give you a softer ride.

Cane Creek Thudbuster ST... elastomers in them sold in rider weight ranges.

[YGWYPF, though, people want a whole bike for that price]

+1 I have noticed that the design of the Terry Cit Y saddle smoothes out the small bumps better than a Brooks Champion Flyer with spring suspension.

The only suspension seat post I've ever owned drove me nuts with all the side play. Never tried a Thudbuster.

How long have you been riding?

How long do your rides last?

How often do you ride?

I've been biking for about a week now, they last something like 20-30 miles depending on the day, and I ride every day.

Also, thanks for the above tips! I recently got an Aliante xm saddle, mostly because they were selling testers for 50 bucks. Can't pass a deal like that up
