Yep, I think you hit the nail on the head about the elitism that comes with labeling. I spent most of my time on the Commuter forum, but sometimes it gets too snobby in there, as well. I find myself drifting over to this forum more and more. It doesn't really matter where you go, snobbery abounds on the internet due to anonymity. I'm just as happy being labeled a "General Cyclist" or "Recreational Rider" as anything else, but would prefer the title "Guy who loves bikes".

Maybe you're safe if you don't capitalize the first letter? have to check with the trademark lawyers.

But to me there is a difference between disagreement even if witty or if it has a bit o' the devil in it, and plain mean snark. It is hard to respond to snark. Maybe we need a snark alert icon.

I usually play in the commuting, winter, utility, and the car free sub forums. Sometimes I lurk in P&R, I am not well enough informed to play there, so I just lurk there.

They don't check membership cards upon entry of any of the forums except Titanium and P&R. And trollheim.
Believe it or not, the 41 is way more relaxed than it used to be. The elitists tend to spend more time on the 33.
There was was a savage thread on the Touring forum not too long ago where some guy panicked outside Colorado Springs and was virtually left for dead.
But really, this place is pretty tame compared to days gone by.
