I did it. 1 whole hour of sheer torture on the rollers. Although I think I discovered a secret: Hogan's Heros makes the time fly.

Edit: I did find out what happens when you try to stand on the rollers. There are now 2 burn marks approximately 8" long in my carpet now.....

Give it time. Eventually you will be able to stand and sprint, ride no handed, grab the remote off the table and stuff like that. You just have to learn to relax and be real smooth. If you ever want to make a trip west we can do a roller session here if you want......

But I may take you up on that, now that Christmas vacation is almost here.

another hour on the rollers today. The e motion rollers make it much more fun than riding the trainer or regular rollers.

I'll probably be riding indoors for a while now, There's nearly too much snow in the woods to even snowmobile, Even with a paddle track, It was a pretty easy to bury the sled with so much snow, and we're supposed to get another 1-2 feet by this weekend

Two hours of indoor cycling class today. Lactate tempo intervals are butt kickers! My legs are still singing after 8 hours.

45 minutes today - full "Carmichael" intervals.

Anyone else wrap towels around their frame to keep the sweat off? Thought I was riding in the rain!

No. I don't sweat like that. It is a blessing.

Finally gave in and hooked up the trainer. About two months ahead of last year's pace of getting back in the saddle.

Did about 45 minutes of just spinning. Nothing coordinated, but worked up a decent sweat.

Oh yeah, since I know many of those out here (*cough cough* aham... ColorChange... *cough cough*) have sweet finished basement setups with wall-to-wall TV's, 5.1 surround, coffee tables on which to set up your TT bikes, and Isaac from the Love Boat standing behind the bar waiting to hand you your recovery beverage of choice, I present for your amusement....

The CyLowe97 Winter Training Camp

It's no Canary Islands, but I like to call it home.

Wise Great Lakers:

Cycleops Wind Trainer, worth $50 bucks?

Are wind trainers as loud as everyone makes them out to be?

I'm not too serious into training, just want to keep myself from getting fat on days when I can't make it outside to ride.

It was more to keep the roommates at bay, but loud jams are a necessity regardless.

The pilgrim couple on top of the TV really adds a festive touch, I like it

My husband helpfully turned on a space heater right next to my bike before I had a chance to get it out of the great room...and I heard that unpleasant hissing sound...yes I have a flat, rear of course.

The TV shows the reflection of the bare 60 watt bulb that lights the area. Not shown are the pieces of cardboard covering the breezy basement windows, and note the "VCR" on the TV stand where he watches old tapes of CBS's coverage of "Paris-Roubaix". "If it was good enough for Bob Roll, it's good enough for me! "

Returned to cycling this year at age 39-first winter on the trainer. I bought a bunch of Spinervals dvds; I like them but I can't say boredome was not somewhat of a factor. I began on the trainer last week-working up to a 75 minute session on Saturday watching Manchester United v Sunderland, then 90 minutes on Sunday watching Arsenal v Wigan. Watching soccer matches works well for me because of the rolling clock-great for intervals. Soccer coaching is what I do in real life.
