IVW's No Bologna ride, in the Peoria area. 25, 50, 75 or 100 mile routes. Pretty good food stops on this ride. I've only done this once. I've also done the Prairie Pedal in Decatur. only 62, 40 and 20 mile options on that though. I've only done this once as well.

I don't do a lot of organized rides, so that's about all I have to offer.

I may have to miss the real Tour de Donut this year. Bummer. Speaking of bummers, Roger Kramer, who was one of the original creators of the TdD died a few months ago. Way too young. He was the leader of the Belleville Area Eating and Bicycling Society (BABES), Tour de Stooges, and helped with the Tour de Coal. He will be missed.

I'll second the Hancock Horizontal Hundred, I like to jokingly call it the Horribly Horiontal Hundred. TOSRV, Hilly Hundred, GOBA of course if you're into a 5ive day event.

A favorite of mine is the Columbus Fall Challenge. 2 days, 16k vertical feet down to Marieta and back.

The Bluegrass 100 in Kentucky is a favorite of many Toledo area riders.

The Oberlin Red Flannel is a favorite fall ride.

I'm going down to the 10th annual Gravel Rouser Classic March 14th. Four days of mixed gravel grinder and singletrack in Athens, OH.

There's a pretty active Randoneering club in Columbus. I believe they do pretty much weekly long distance rides. 66, 100+ miles.

the group i ride with a lot lately is trying to get me into doing CFC. it'll depend on my training this year and if i can find a set of climbing legs. they have a CFC video they did on youtube and vimeo. same guys who did the video for TOSRV 2012. there's like an 11min video on youtube of that too.

Well I love to do the Miller Lite Ride for the Arts and the Riverwest 24, both in Milwaukee. The great part of the Miller Lite Ride for the Arts is it goes over the Hoan Bridge very cool (story on biking the Hoan). I enjoyed doing Race the Lake around Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin before we moved out west. It's a race but also can be just rode also with stops and all traffic is redirected so no worrying about cars. Also there are stops throughout the ride with food(drinks, energy gels, bars, simple sandwiches, fruit, etc) bathrooms etc. It's a really nicely put together ride 90 miles race/ride. That's in August and the weather has never let down either. Another ride worth checking into.

Well if you weren't there on May Day then you missed your chance to ride in the Riverwest 24 this year. Here's a little story I did on registration day. That said still come it is worth just being there!

I did "Ride Cincinnati" for the first time this year, which was a lot of fun; though despite the name, it mostly takes place along Route 8 in rural northern Kentucky. Next month, there is a (apparently not the) Tour De Donut in Arcanum, OH, which I'm really looking forward to. I like riding, and I like donuts...it's a win-win!

The Grand Illinois Trail Ride Season is typically September - October when the mosquitoes have diminished, and the nights are longer.

Take 10 or 12 days going 50 miles a day so you can really enjoy yourself. It's a self directed ride on all kinds of terrain: Road, Chipped Limestone, even ballast rock for maybe a total of 5 miles....

A road tire wouldn't be so good, but a thinner mountain bike tire would be just fine.

Some of the local riders are doing the Tour de Donut -- it's tomorrow, Sept 7. It's a 30 mile "race", with two donut stops. You get 5 minutes deducted from your time for each donut consumed! So, let's say 30 miles at 17 mph average speed, that's 105 minutes. For instance, 5 donuts is 25 minutes, which gives 22.5 mph adjusted average speed. It's a tricky optimization problem, and how would you train for an event like this?

This race is a copy of the original that runs in Staunton IL in July. You can see some of the kooky methods on the "I survived the Tour de Donut" Facebook page. We had the 25th annual event this year with ~1600 riders. I haven't been one of the organizers since its third of fourth year, it is now very successfully run by Boeing Bike Club.

I have done this ride several times. It was actually my first century ride ever! There are a few rollers, but mostly flat. Wind was a big factor for me one year, head wind on the final leg, worse than hills for this guy!

I don't own an English three speed but this ride almost makes me want to own one, The Lake Pepin 3-Speed Tour.

I may have to build a 3 speed bike just to do the ride, .
