More talk, less pics. (Pictures in link)
Mike Kloser, Tim Davies and Tom Rogers raced for Alpinestars. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=116406 Check out the disc brake on Davies' 1991 rigid MTB fork! Elevated chain stays were designed to allow shorter effective chainstay length. Eventually it was decided 17" was short enough and the e-stay bikes were prone to breakage as they were much less able to withstand the combined forces of pedaling and riders weight than traditionally positioned chainstays. |

The Alpinestars instantly caught my eye glimpsing through the CL lists. And hey, you got it cornered qmsdc15. The rear stays really stands out! No, not mine, but it seems to be in near mint. And I cant take it on. Hang on, i´ll sleep on this one, might be catch för my oldest daughter, and i´ll throw in a pic just in case... |

None of them wear helmet,sigh......

The safety of bicyclists is improved with increased presence. Some feel that bicycle riders wearing helmets give observers the false idea that bicycling in the city is extremely dangerous. Riding without a helmet may encourage more people to use bicycles and thus make bicycling safer for all of us.
My hat's off to those who choose to promote cycling by riding without a helmet, but my helmet will remain tightly strapped to my head until the last motorist has been rounded up and secured in a reeducation camp. :) Safe riding in Chinatown. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/DSC02769.jpg http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/DSC02771.jpg http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/DSC02773.jpg |
Is that Chinatown in Maryland?

I guess you know they are from the same company that provides the Bixis in Canada. Cabi is a shortened word for Capital Bikeshare that is sometimes used. Yes it is a very popular program here. :)

I believe Melbourne City (in Australia) introduced a similar concept. I heard they placed bikes at various locations around the city for tourists etc. to rent. One big problem, Melbourne City officers obviously aren't bike riders because they didn't know that Melbourne has a helmet law. Not many tourist carry a bike helmet. ha ha ha ha

I saw a Police Bike here in Denver. It was the first time I had ever seen a Police Bike. So I snagged a picture of it... Or so I thought. My phone had other plans. I took the picture, but it's not in the camera roll. I'll connect it to my computer and see if it's there... :(
EDIT: YAY!!! I FOUND THE PICTURE :D... I'M UPLOADING IT RIGHT NOW Edit 2: http://i736.photobucket.com/albums/x...t/IMG_0937.jpg |

So I guess these Treks are pretty much standard issue for Police cyclists in the US?

Don't any of these police bikes have any flashing lights?
