Trek 7.5 FX Shifter Indicator Problem

I just got a used 2011 Trek 7.5 FX and have a question about the indicator on the shifter for the rear sprocket (cassette?) Anyway, I believe the shifter is a Shimano Deore SL-M530. The problem is the indicator is not set correctly. The red indicator bar has travelled as far to the left as it can and I can still change to a lower gear, similarly the indicator bar never reaches the far right side. I have downloaded the installation manual but it is a bit confusing to read (newbie). Is there a simple way for me to adjust the indicator bar position? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Your specific issue will most likely be answered quicker up in the Mechanics forum...

I would`nt be worried about it as it has no bearing on your riding ability. Go by feel like most people do.

That's what I was going to say. I've never used those gear indicators when I had them.

My '12 had the same issue out of the box. LBS took care of it. Didn't affect the shifting just had to adjust the red indicator inside the housing.
