Making 90 degree turns on a sidewalk with my Trek was a little dicey and I had to slow way down to feel comfortable but on this bike I can maintain a much faster speed and just cruise thru that turn without feeling like I'm going to end up with a wheel in the grass. All this with fat, heavy 40mm tires! I'm going to ride it like this for the forseeable future but I can imagine how it's going to ride once I put my 32mm Vittoria Hypers on it!

My only complaint is that I wasn't able to completely color-code it so that all the components are silver. Someday.
You know your really Happy with your bike, when color coding it becomes your only issue. (Smile) I have really been looking for just the right Hybrid, thought I had it with my Allez custom bike. But wanted a Bike that could handle wider tires. I'm settled in on the Trek, or would not have invested so much. For as light as it is, & no suspension, it rides incredible smooth. I guess do the Carbon Fork, IsoZone monostay rear damper, Bontrager Satellite Plus IsoZone handle bars, Bontrager Satellite IsoZone Elite, lock-on, ergonomic grips, and the Bontrager 700 x 32c tires running 80 PSI rear, 70 PSI front. The only real draw back to it is, I'm afraid to leave it locked up for any length of time somewhere.. I admire your patience on building your bike, something I fall short of. Now we need on the road pictures of your new steed..

Believe me, patience isn't one of my virtues either but financial constraints do a good job of forcing it on you. The only thing I would change about the frame at this point would be changing to vertical or semi-vertical dropouts (I'm a bit intimidated by getting the rear wheel back in straight on the semi-horizontal dropouts). I also would like a different color. This one is good and will suffice for a year or three but I'll eventually have it powdercoated a different color and I could probably easily spend another 2 years trying to decide what that color will be! Black and some shade of orange are always in the running but something in light blue, dark red or some shade of yellow also intrigue me.

I probably shouldn't be posting in this topic because this is flat bar road bike territory, but I'm more replying to giantcfr1's post:

I've had this for a few weeks now and the drop bars are probably going to go back on soon so I thought I'd better get some pictures before they did.

As for the flat bar set up I swapped out the Deda El drop bars for a Deda Big Bar to match the Deda El stem. The Big Bar was 660mm wide so I took 55mm of each end. I added Shimano SL-R780 shifters which are the best flat bar shifters I could get with in the Shimano family to complement the 105 group set. Add a couple of all black Shimano R550 brake levers and some Velo grips and I was done.

The Ace comes with a Colnago branded Selle Italia saddle but I chose to ugrade it to a better Selle Italia saddle with a cut-out.

It will probably see some better wheels in the future but I'm happy with the R500's for now, they're maybe just 500g too heavy

Seriously, during the time he's been on BF, he'd have to have had at least 12 hybrids. Come on xo...Live, what number is this one.

It's really plain for what I have invested, but functions great. I'm still looking for a new saddle, and pedals.

Can pick this up for 75.00 dollars new today :
https://www.amazon.com/Selle-Italia-B.../dp/B000XRUH0I

And was think about ordering these pedals:
(in Black)

I do miss the thrill of Bike shopping.

I never knew Deda made a 35mm flat bar! Nice!

Well you get what you pay for. (Shimano Tiagra Flat Bar 10spd Rapid fire shifters) at least they have the correct shifters.

Early 1990's Bridgestone city bike, prepped for a friend's 5'11" wife. Bought today, freshened with new tires, saddle, bell, and cork blend grips.
