Car Rack

Hello All-

I just bought a Giant Escape 2 w and now am looking for the best car rack. I currently have a Saris Bones 3 on my 2013 Honda Civic. It is fine except for some finicky screws but fortunately the LBS swaps those out for free when needed. The issue is that I just downsized to the Civic from a Kia Sorento and am feeling the loss of storage space in the car. The big downside of the Saris Bones is that I can not access the trunk when a bike is on the rack. For that reason I am looking to add a hitch to my Civic at U-Haul and upgrade my rack to a hitch mounted rack rather than the trunk mounted so I will have access to the trunk when a bike or bikes are on the rack. Any suggestions for the BEST rack? I want it to be able to fit 3-4 bikes at a time? Btw the hitch will be a 1 1/4" hitch. Thanks!

I use an Allen Sports 3-bike rack on our Jetta with a hitch. You'll max out at 3 bikes on a 1-1/4" hitch. Likely isn't the top of the line rack, but I've been happy with it. Multiple bikes, short and long trips with no issues.

I use Yakima Q towers and Thule Criterium roof racks on my Civic and am very happy.

When we were searching for a car (first time for 9 years) our priority was for us to be able to transport our bikes to races outside our city etc. plus allow the three of us to fit in comfortably. My bike fits upright in the back of my Daihatsu with the front wheel off and the forks fitted into a brace.
