Thanks for the info, but was I misinformed about all the new 2015 FX's being DuoTrap S ready?

From what i've seen all of the new 2015 FX bikes have the "DuoTrap" moniker, this is also what I was told by my LBS.

I am equally irritated by this. I was all set to buy a new 2015 7.4FX in matte black until I realised I was browsing the international website, and when I checked the U.S version I saw the only two color options are white and grey. Really? I will call my local Trek dealer tomorrow to ask if I can order one in black but I expect i'll be getting the same response you got, in which case I don't think i'll be buying from Trek. Sorry Trek, I want to give you my money, but i'm not dropping several hundered dollars just to have to "deal with" a choice between two mediocre colors.

Sorry, Grey. I know how it feels. I'll never understand why they can't send over a few dozen bikes in the colors they ASSume won't sell and see how it goes. I've got some news for them….

Whoever picks their colors every year probably earns more money than I ever will. That's pretty sad because I could do a better job.

Okay, thanks. So, the 2015 7.4FX DuoTrap S is really just like the other 7.4s? Why call it a DTS? Ugh, Trek…don't worry about making things easy, okay? Thanks.

Yes. The ones that say "DuoTrap" are the new 2015 models, but I don't think there are any non-DuoTrap 2015 models so i'm not sure why they had to make a special name for it since they all seem to have it.

Lime Green is... kind of an odd color. Not to downplay your preferred color choice or anything, but I mean, they give us white and slightly darker white as our choices? Not white and black?

It's even more ridiculous because guess what colors the 2015 7.3FX comes in for the U.S market? Lime Green and Matte Black. So I think the "they don't sell" arguement is bogus. They just don't want to.

That's my confusion about the special name…no reason for it as far as I know.

The "lime green" they are offering up this year is not for me. It's too yellow and looks like a kids bike, IMO. The "Signature green" they offered overseas was more my style I think. More of an apple green, I guess I would call it. Of course, I would still need to see it before committing, but I won't do the lime green the guy from Trek was all excited about. Back on page 1 of this thread is a picture of the green I wanted.

I'm still seeing black & red on Trek's website for the 7.3. Earlier today, the lime green was showing, though. I may need to ditch that cookie and start over.

Now i'm not even seeing the 2015 7.3 on the U.S website, I don't know what the hell is going on. I spoke with someone from my LBS shop yesterday who said they could order the 7.3 in lime green or matte black.

I was initially going to buy the 7.3, but started looking at the 7.4 because of the carbon fork and the Deore rear derailleur. I may just end up going with the 7.3 depending on what they say tomorrow.

There are images here of how the colors appear in real life on this Japanese blog, showing the green that the 2015's come in. TREK 7.4FX 2015

Yes, the 7.3 was showing earlier and it's the one the trek guy had confused with the bike I wanted. Just today he told me it's available. Thanks for the link, but I already know I don't want the 2015 lime green. This whole thing started because the trek representative told me 2014 green would be available in North America...he was wrong. I think I'm going to shelve this for a couple days and see what they work out with their website. It's changing far too often to get any sense of what's really happening.

I don't know if Giant will be releasing a Disc version of the Escape, but in Australia, Giant is now offering this beautiful baby.

Keep in mind, that Giant changes the name of the Escape to "Cross City" for the Australian Market and the RRP of $999 is in Australian Dollars, which makes it the same price as the Trek 7.4 FX Disc.

But unlike the Trek 7.4 FX Disc, this bike comes with a Carbon Fork, better Front Derailleur, much better crank, and an understated paint scheme, not the mess that curses the 2015 7.4 FX Disc.

Not sure that there is any component on the Trek 7.4 FX Disc, that is better than its equivalent on this Giant model.

Cross City 0 Disc (2015) | Giant Bicycles / Giant Bikes | Australia

The non-disc 7.4 has a carbon fork and aside from the hydraulic brakes, has very similar specs for 760$. And the 2015 7.4 Disc is only 880$, which still makes that quite a bit cheaper than the "Cross City 0".

Not to say that the Giant it isn't a nice bike.

Though i've seen the 2015 7.4 Disc in person and the "paramount grey" looks very similar to that champagne color on the Giant.

The RRP of $999 is in Australian dollars, so if the equivalent is released in the USA, it will be likely to be around $850 to $900.

For instance the 7.4FX Disc is also $999 in Australia, so it is likely that in America that Escape/Cross City 0 will be the same price as the 7.4FX disc.

I'm going to see if I can see the 7.4FX Disc in person this weekend and will report back, but I don't like the colour of it, going from online shots.

Is the grey as flat and boring as in looks in pictures. Is it at least a metallic grey?

It's just a flat grey from what I recall. Grey seems to be a popular color this year. To be honest I didn't spend much time looking at it because the 7.4 Disc is out of my price range.

As I said in a different thread, when talking about the colour of the 7.4FX Disc model, it is not just the colour, but the texture that I find off-putting.

It looks like some cheap vinyl acrylic house paint.

The paint on my Trek Marlin seems to be the cheapest crappiest paint I've ever seen / touched on a bike. It marks so easily and chips. I've never had another bike with a paint job so bad.

Some good news on the U.S. 2015 FX 7.3 front with regards to color. I reached out to Trek on Facebook about the non-WSD FX 7.3 and they informed me that the 2015 7.3 will be updated on the Trek web site by the end of the month, but is available for order now from Trek dealers. And the great news, no boring white or grey like the 7.4. Instead we will be getting the same Lime Green and Matte Black that European dealers are selling.

Thanks for reaching out! Our website will be updated with new bikes by the end of this month. We do have the new 7.3 FX available for order in all US Trek retailers right now. They are currently in stock. Here are our two, non-WSD 7.3 FX options for the new year. One is Lime Green, the other is Matte Black.

Ships leave Taipei Harbor with a container of boxed bikes for different country's distribution centers .

For example: the bikes Giant ships to Bremerhaven, Rotterdam or Antwerp, meet different national preferences/standards ..
than those that go to the ports of Long Beach, Oakland & Tacoma/Seattle

Where'd you get this info from? I can't contact Trek today, they're closed on Sunday.

Like I said, the Trek Facebook page. I have seen a couple of U.S. based lbs web sites with the colors as well. Here is what will be my lbs in AZ with the two colors. https://twowheeljones.com/product/tre...x-212738-1.htm

I misread your post, I thought you were talking about the 7.4. The 7.3 has been available in Lime Green and Matte Black for some time, a few people already have them.
