7.4 FX WSD - Trek Bicycle
How come you are getting a new bike? Has the 2010 Trek Pilot let you down in some way?

A quick search of Canadian retailers shows the same colors we have. Must be a North America thing

Looks like I can't buy a bike online and have it shipped here?? Wow, what a joke this is turning out to be. I think I may just be finished with this company…and, yes, all because I can't get the color I want. Oh well…I'll start shopping other brands.

Bike manufacturers do not allow online sale, probably to keep LBS's in business. I tried that with a FUJI Absolute from Performance Bike...no go!
Have you checked with the Trek Store in Columbus?

Michelle,Unfortunately the way our business is setup it is not possible. We do not have the ability to bring a bike over here that is not available in the country. I am sorry we cannot make this happen but that is the reality of the situation. -Josh @ Trek

Trek replying via FB is huge! I posted a question about weight and it was skipped right over. However, they published an email address which I communicated through. Not sure what to tell you at this point.

Thanks…it was a private message, not a post on their wall. At this point, I really am shopping other manufacturers. I'm finished with Trek (at least until I'm not completely disappointed with their customer service). It should be really simple to get a bike in a color that is available elsewhere. What if a guy in Australia wants Sepia? Nope, sorry, can't get it.
It really makes no sense to me why they do this.

You could always drop a stack of money buying the bike from a shop overseas and have them ship it to you. Or go over and buy it there and have a nice vacation. Then you could ship it back.
I feel your frustration.

But isn't it a girlie blue?
It seems that colours on female oriented bikes from the big 3(Trek, Giant, Specialized) are just terrible this year.
Considering what you want your hybrid to do, I had a look at the more mountain bike oriented hybrids for females like the Trek Neko, Giant Rove & Specialised Ariel, and unless you are happy with a dash of pink on a mainly black or grey frame, you are out of luck.
However, what about this orangey/mandarin model from Specialized?

No, my Pilot is fine when I just want to fitness ride, but I'm also interested in running errands and birding while riding, and I just feel a hybrid would be better suited to those things.

***Post deleted because I'm not sure I was supposed to say anything, LOL. In regard to my issue of getting a green bike, I'll just say to keep your eyes peeled!

the 2015 models seem to pop up on the Trek website as they become available. For instance, the 2015 Domane Disc is now listed. I would bet by late July you'll start to see the roll out of new versions of the FX, road, and MTB line. You just have to keep checking the Trek site and hope others on this site will announce if they see it first.

Update to this issue: In May, when this thread was active, I began talking with a guy at Trek about how to order the Signature Green 7.4 FX. Basically, I was told I couldn't (which still makes NO SENSE to me). So, I dropped the idea and began thinking of other models. Then I got an email from him: "Great news!" He went on to say the green model would be available in a couple months. I was to keep quiet since even the dealers weren't aware of it yet. So, I kept quiet and bided my time.
I kept checking the website and was seeing all the updates to the other bikes but not the one I was after.
Then, a few days ago I got another email from him that the bike was available. I had been watching Trek update their website and hadn't yet seen the 7.4 update with the green. I asked about it and was told to check with my dealer as they can see all available colors that aren't yet listed on the website. So today, I waited for my dealer to open and went in, ready to order.
Guess what…the dude at Trek was "confused" and had been talking about the 7.3 FX - DuoTrap S in Lime the ENTIRE time. It couldn't have been more clear in the model I wanted or the color. In fact, it is the title of our email. I also mentioned the color on numerous occasions just to be certain. I am SO disappointed in Trek and I'm not sure if I'll be back as a customer. How can you screw that up?? I could maybe understand getting one thing wrong (model/color), but not both. And it wasn't just once.
I replied to his "oops" email about how disappointed I am and he sent me another asking if I've seen the 7.5 WSD in Seaglass Sangria. WHAT???? You have GOT to be kidding me.
I will say that I was quite pleased with Trek's customer service until today when I realized my entire summer has been spent waiting for a bike that, for some reason, is made by Trek but cannot be had in N. America and the person I had been working with was completely clueless about what I want.
We are actually considering selling both of our Treks and going elsewhere. That's how upset we (as a bike buying family) are with this. I'm just venting here and finishing the story since many of you chimed in originally.

Which brand will you consider switching to?

Interesting. The Lime green 7.3 was there earlier today. I do notice it's showing 29 models and it was 31 earlier. (Just checked again and it's showing 25 models…what's going on?? They must be doing updates…)
No idea what brand. Guess I get to start shopping all over again. Although, losing one customer won't hurt Trek at all…so maybe I'll just choose a different color knowing they have no idea what they're doing over there.

Actually I would have thought the colour of the 7.5 WSD would be appealing to girls?
Anyway, Specialized has that orange colour you said you liked and it looks like a pretty good bike as well.

Thanks for the tip on the orange bike. I'm not sure why people think all women like purples and pinks…but I'm not one of them. I went through that phase as a kid. I much prefer earth tones as I get older.
I'm researching the 7.4 FX DuoTrap S (in white). I can always add green accents. I just don't know what DuoTrap really means other than it's equipped…but all the new FX's are, aren't they? So, why the singularity? So confusing...

The DuoTrap moniker means that there is a part of the chainstay that has been designed/hollowed out for a combined Speed & Cadence ANT+ wireless sensor.
This will give your bike a more streamlined look over the previous Trek solutions for adding sensors.
