Hello from The Netherlands
Hi everyone,
I’m Erik from the Netherlands. I’m not a hardcore cyclist, but I really enjoy using my bike for everyday things like local commuting and errands, and taking it along on holidays. When traveling with our caravan, I usually bring the bike on the roof of my RAV4 prime and prefer relaxed rides — for example on old railway lines that have been converted into bike paths.
I recently bought a Koga F3 5.0 (2023) after my previous bike’s Alfine 8 hub failed due to corrosion. I switched to a 3×10 Shimano Deore LX drivetrain and am enjoying the simplicity so far.
I’m recently retired after a long career in IT and IT security. Besides cycling, I’m also into astrophotography. I joined BikeForums to learn more about comfort and maintenance topics like saddles, suspension seatposts and drivetrain care.
Nice to be here and looking forward to learning from you all!!!

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?
Welcome.
Wherever you post - we love pictures of your bikes and where you ride them. so thanks for the above = great image.
Don't miss the Forum Foo - (at the bottom-most list of Forums) thread for Photography that would really love Astrophotography. not many contribute there, but ....... well .... check it.
As a Summer volunteer activity I served as a "wilderness forest ranger". There were some photographers who requested support to get to darkest places for one or two nights. They mostly knew where to go, but had multiple cameras and motorized tripods and gear. Call me a willing pack animal for the experience. It was educational, tho' maybe an extra 10-15 pounds on my back. One guy really liked planetary alignments, ... I never stayed awake as long as they did.

Welcome.
I've ridden around Nijmegen a bit when I was there for work. I enjoyed the infrastructure and people quite a bit.

Welcome, from southeast Wisconsin, USA!
I have a similar car as you, (Honda CR-V) and often bring a folding bike with me in the back. That might be something to consider if you get tired of loading a bike on the roof.
Enjoy your stay!

Welcome from across the globe, great to have riders from the Netherlands here. Cycling culture there is on another level entirely. Infrastructure alone puts many countries to shame. It’s always interesting comparing daily riding experiences. Forums like this help bridge those differences. Seeing local rides shared reminds me of scrolling instagram for cycling inspiration. Looking forward to hearing more about your routes.
