Have you attended Wagner's The Ring Cycle? I have listened and snoozed to it trying to watch it on video.

Although my favorite is this. The women can really sing, may be able to lap the field in a points race but may get DFL on a hill climb.

Haven't done the Ring in sequence. Much for the same reason I don't do ultra cycling events.

Nice day with Mrs. Ex. Drove down to San Diego, early dinner, then saw Sara Bareilles at SDSU and visited some of Mrs. Ex's old haunts from when she went to school there.

Starting to mull next season...

Are any of you guys anywhere near Burlington or Chelsea, VT? I'm going out there next week. Will have a bike, but don't know my way around at all.

I'm starting to mull next season, too. I've got some focusing to do. What I am going to do is go to Cushman & Wakefield, but I'll stay with MBRT at the club level.

I think it will work. I already belong to a club, Velo Club Monterey, that I am active with. I'll stay with MBRT at their club level to help out with their events when I can. With C&W, I'll just race. There are two gals on C&W whom I know, and one of them is 50+. We know our respective coaches, too, so lots of pluses there.

I've considered a team change to one with more guys in my age cat, but I have too much invested in kits. Less one skin-suit that is, although it may still be usable.

Going to be nice to go home today. Waiting for whom TallWife and I refer to as "Doc G" to make her rounds. I need a PowerBall ticket, if my winning the Dr. Gorgeous lottery is an accurate indication that my luck has changed. Wow.

Only bad news is that, walking around this morning (got a hall pass and went downstairs to the in-hospital Starbucks), it's clear that left leg issue that nagged me during comeback #1 will be an issue in comeback #2 .

<shrug>

My attitude towards this crash is much more of a <shrug>, because adversity is clearly just part of the picture for me, and I accept that now. Besides, unlike January, when I never figured out exactly what happened or whether/how I could have avoided it, I know exactly what happened this time. Embarrassing, but clear, and costly, mistake.

One thing I absolutely MUST get, is a copy of a post-surgery X-ray. Need to put it up at work, next to the pic of me walking away from the med tent in Santa Barbara. Motivation to get my head screwed on straight.

+1 on both. Glad to hear you're bustin' out of the hospital. Hopefully you're getting some sympathy points from TallWife!

Yesterday's fail with NYC Citi Bike bike share was replaced by today's reasonable success. Things that make cycling on Manhattan difficult are cars, delivery trucks, pedestrians, and other people on bikes. People "salmon" on the bike lanes, run lights, some are just discourteous to other riders. However, I found the riding somewhat exhilarating. My wife was somewhat terrified. Regardless, we're going to do it again tomorrow.

Maybe you should view the Citi Bike ride as a cyclo cross race. They seem to have many of the same parameters’. Just try to envision the Starbucks drinking business dressed pedestrians as being insulting beer driven fans. They probably say the same things as you ride by.

Cleave, Are you in Manhattan? When we were in London, Barclays had bike share stations and I was tempted to try one since I was tired of walking to and from the gym and our hotel. It never happened since one had to sign up for the service, get a pin and pay plus I never had my helmet when I thought of doing it and in the back of my mind was riding on the other side of the street. I could visualize looking the wrong way and getting crunched by a car. As far as London cyclists were concerned, they seemed to ride really well meaning straight lines and obey traffic rules.

I hope all heals well, AZT.

I agree on the after pic. Mine looks like something I banged in using a rock as a hammer when I was 10. Surprising, to say the least. The Doctor said. "We call those lag screws" I said, "So do we".

I am using it as good motivation to be a better bike rider, which will hopefully allow me to race better.

X Ray trophies are cool. Mine will be three years ago this December.
