A little on the power front.
I discussed power with Ex, Heathie and IBO quite a lot over the last week. DC Rainmaker came up, and @Hermes, the take was exactly as you mentioned. I appreciated his in depth comparisons, but his tests reminded me of Motor Trend. Sweetheart.
I've used a PowerTap hub laced into an OpenPro wheel for several years now. It started as a wired unit, and it's been upgraded to G3 since. It's the same unit with new internals, updated by Saris for a flat fee. Other than needing a firmware update to correct some battery issues, that powermeter has been Stone Reliable. I swap it between the Look (training bike) and the Felt (TT bike), using a Wheelbuilders clam shell over it in that application (Hermes and Ex have seen it). However, the Venge is a black hole. It has no power. I had thought that it would stay that way because "I don't ride it much, I just race it". Doh! There are some high numbers that come out of mass start races that I rarely make in training, and Coach and I are lacking this data.
IBO piqued my interest in looking into power for the Venge. I know a PT hub won't work, the Roval wheels are 21 spoke and Saris hubs have even numbered spoke counts. And they make for a heavy wheel. I have the Specialized FACT crankset on the Venge, so I could use the Quarq/Specialized spider, but Coach has expressed a dislike for Quarq. I'm trying to control costs, so SRM is out. Power2Max is a thought. The Garmin pedals solution looked intriguing, but now that I've heard from Hermes they're out. The PT pedals are expensive ($1200), and PT C1 chainrings are only 110 BCD. So, I'm watching used on eBay and elsewhere for something in the $600 range. I know. Good luck with that!
That's what I'm up to with that Garmin inquiry.

My trials and tribulations with power I hope are over. The Stages went back to the factory after suffering power dropouts and I must say that Stages is behind the product. I had that crank arm for 2 years and they repaired the unit for me by replacing the pod at no charge and sent it back 2-day.
I was able to get the PT pedals for, what amounted as a steal, due to the sponsors of the team I am on; even less than what I had said in my email...
If I had to start over again and buy my first power meter I'd more than likely go SRM

IBO, thanks for that!
I've looked at the Powertap pedals. They're easy (easier) to move from bike to bike than the Garmin Vectors, except that they use a proprietary cleat. So, you have to have another set of shoes to use with those pedals, unless you want to swaps cleats around. Everything I have, except for the cross bike, is Look.
I've looked at the SRM. Money, money, money!
I've looked at Power 2 Max. Intriguing.
And, I've looked at Quarq. My teammate uses a Riken on her road bike, and she said it has been trouble free. Ex says 'avoid them". Still looking.
My Prius went in for a major service last week and it came out with a warning from the service manager that is has a "potentially serious" oil leak from the cam chain cover, and the repair will cost 11 man hours, or $1600. As I told Shovel, the power meter is now on hold.
Life, ya know?

I am semi-obsessed with the idea of getting a mountain bike, even though I have never once been mountain biking.

My background in 'Cross was a big advantage and the ex-BMX kids were amazing, it was fun until The Big Crash that retired me.
The best bike handlers that I know have 'Cross and MTB racing backgrounds.

Got a big ol dose of that today...
Upside = Plenty of time to train
Downside = Wondering how to pay the bills
Just practicing my "Welcome to Walmart, land of the folks what really don't look in the mirror and see how they are dressed before leaving the house." lines now.

People. Not having the best of days and notice that I get left negative feedback on Ebay. Huh? I'm at 100% positive since 1998 with 1200 transactions.
Was selling a bike case a month ago. "Buyer pays actual shipping". Ebay screwed up the shipping cost, $150 v. $60. Part of that was on my end because of a error in the dimensions, but Ebay was wrong at any dimension. So I explain it to the guy, and send him a screen shot of the FedEx costs and options. He wants me to eat $50 of the shipping. On a $200 item. I tell him, no thank you and he gets nasty. I apologize, again, and cancel the transaction and give him a full refund.
And I quote: "slime ball backed out. I even tried to help with his shipping miscalculation".
By "help", I guess he means helping himself to $50.
Small potatoes. But annoying.

@Racer Ex, hate to see your positive streak broken but there's always one in a crowd (unfortunately).

Similar story...100% positive...then some clown claimed that I sent him a crankset that was a "forgery". Huh? It was a take-off from a new bike...Now I just cart my stuff down to pro's closet and let them sell it for me...the 30% cut they take is worth it, so I don't have to deal with ass clowns.
I am disappointed by the preponderance of ass-clowns in our society.

Hmm, I have stans in my clements, but maybe that's ok since they are the no-tubes tubulars. In any case, glad I read that and I'm going to go rotate the wheels where they hang, so if there is pooling, it might have a chance to spread out.

I've got Stan's in my tubeless tires, but they get ridden enough that pooling shouldn't be a problem. I hope.

Speaking of discomfort (see race photo thread and position posts), supposed to race this Saturday. 2 days of back country "skiing" (which turned out to be cross country skiing thanks to the snow) in new boot liners left me with these nice blisters.
Took three days off and this is what they look like. Going to go out today and see how things go.

Today is the exact 3 year anniversary of my buying my first road bike.
What a trip so far. Hard to believe its been such a short time, it seems way longer.
I've bought four bikes, ridden 15000ish miles, climbed dozens of mountains, ridden hundreds of intervals, raced 10 TTs (and won five, I think), and populated my life with all kinds of cycling friends. Including y'all.
