Revenge is a dish best served cold - meaning and origin.

That was an interesting read!

My year started with recovery from saddle sore surgery, included moving halfway across the country (with all the associated fun of buying and selling houses), and crashing into the hospital / breaking a bike...

2015 in a nutshell..

Well, @Herbie53, we're just glad your not dead and that you still have both your kidneys. Could be worse.

Yeah... make lemonade. I've enjoyed coming back and meeting new people. Got to meet many I would not have since slower shop rides were the order of the day at first.

...and the bike is fixed... and made the backyard into something we could enjoy at the new digs.

@revchuck and @Dalai, really glad to read that things are going well. I have a lot of empathy. My wife is a 15 years colon cancer survivor after being diagnosed at Stage 4. She went through surgery and chemo. Continue to hope for the best for both of you.

Just when you think you're done traveling for the year...

Actually, I am done for the year, but last week was business trip #19 for 2015. The week before that, my manager said something like, "I don't see you traveling less in 2016."

Tying this back to some earlier posts, most of what I read are business books related to what I do at the big airplane company. This year, with so much airplane time, I've read more books this year than any since college. Just finishing up, Why Plans Fail: Cognitive Bias, Decision Making, and Your Business, by Jim Benson. Very good book.

Regarding Shakespeare, I haven't read one of his plays since high school, but my wife and I see at least three Shakespeare plays each year. Have seen some really imaginative productions the past few years, especially a performance of The Tempest that Teller (of Penn and Teller) co-directed.

Oh, and I get to wait all the way until January 6, 2016, before I head up to Seattle again.

I love the idea of documenting your home building memories via website. Very well put together site too.

My goodness, everyone has had a busy and eventful year. Soon to see what 2016 holds.

Hi @Herbie53 good to see you made it through all that. I love the pool (and the bike.)

It's been a busy weekend for me. I did make to the LBS Christmas party. I walked in to about 80 strangers and the shop owner that I only know from my visits there to pick up supplies and look at my bike a couple of times. I stood around awkwardly for about twenty minutes then decided to grab a beer from the cooler where a group of guys were chatting. Shortly after I said to them "I don't know anyone here so I'm just listening in." That broke the ice and the rest of the night I enjoyed meeting everyone. A lot of fun and interesting people of various cycling disciplines and/or preferances. I'm so glad I didn't let my shyness get in the way.

The next day I took a ride down my regular path and said my usual "hi" to a couple of guys traveling the opposite direction. One of them said my name. Now I'm not sure if they recognized me from the party or Strava. Either way it's nice that I'm starting to get to know more local cyclists.

Great, @YogaKat. I'll bet the person who said "hi" was from the Christmas party. Does the shop sponsor any rides? That is the next step, getting in on the group ride. You'll pick up tons from riding with others & developing a wider circle of cycling friends/contacts.

@Heathpack I did find out he was one of the local Strava riders that we follow each other. Still cool though. It's nice that I'm beginning to get to know my fellow cyclists around here.

The shop does have some rides but they have stopped for the most part until Spring comes back. The local club is still doing a few rides, I just have to catch one in between work and the holidays. In the spring I will be participating a lot more in group rides.

I haven't been able to get in much last week and this one. Life getting in the way and all. Especially frustrating with the warmer than usual weather. There is a pretty new purple mountain bike hiding in my closet for my daughter and Christmas day is supposed to be really nice. Nothing too fancy but a big step up from her thrift store bike that is so small for her it hurts me watching her ride it. Looking like some fun mother/daughter riding set for the holiday.

I'm crazy busy today trying to get month end books closed and may have to take a quick spin on the bike just to relieve some tension. The 21st of the month is always a booger.

@YogaKat, thanks for the kind words about the website. I "copied" some other similar websites done by people building green homes.

In a few years, you won't be able to ride locally without several people calling out your name. My problem is recognizing people when they are at a bit of a distance. Worse is that I regularly miss seeing my wife's cousin (who introduced us) while he spots me all the time. I get a lot of grief from him.

Spent the day laying in bed sick with the wife. Felt quesy when I woke up, and noticed that she had come back to bed, normally she up at 4-5 for east coast call and goes non stop.

" I got food poisoning ".

Managed to get the garbage and recycling out before I died.

10 hours later I had to get up to feed Ridley. Had some banana. Went out to bring the can and bins in. FYI it takes a 70 MPH wind to knock over 50 pounds of glass and send wine bottles a quarter mile down the road. Needed the van to get everything.

On the plus side today was an off day.

@Cleave I have a hard time recognizing anyone with helmets and riding glasses on most times. Hopefully I will get better at that as time goes on. I do look forward to watching your progress on the home.
@Racer Ex Hope you and the wife get to feeling better quickly. What a crummy day.

It's almost midnight CST and I've been on the computer since 6am meeting my monthly closing of the books deadline. I'm finally done, now just to wait for the dreaded questions from the owners. If I hear nothing from them usually all is well. I did grab a 45 minute break to ride and clear my head this afternoon then 30 minutes after Mr. YogaKat got home and fed me dinner while we watched Ash Vs Evil Dead. Always happy when the 21st of the month is done!

Now looking forward to leaving work early on Wednesday to see Trans Siberian Orchestra on my birthday.

Bread and butter pickle juice infused with ghost pepper flakes, will help ward that type of stuff off.

Renewed USA Cycling license for 2016 and went green this year. I was very happy not to pay the surcharge for Race Clean. Racing age next year is 67. And I am on the same team as last year Ironfly. I tried different combinations of my age to generate a new number to help me feel better about myself such as 6+7=13: too young. 6-7=-1: 6*7=42 better. A series...6+7+13=26 or 6+7+13+26=52

Okay...67 is the new 30.

If you ask me how I feel..
